AKL nighttime safari

Can anyone give me some info on the nighttime safari that's available only to people who stay at AKL. It's the one that starts at 10p.m. It sounds like fun but it's expensive-$70 per person plus tax for a 1 hour safari. I'm wondering if it's worth $223 for our family of 3 - DH and DD aged 12.

We liked it...a bit cool that night. I would make sure the 12 year old is interested. We had two children on our safari and one, 5 minutes into the safari curled up on the bench and went to sleep. I don't believe her father was too happy about that. Some people get regular binoculars, but most get a one eye type...that upset the father too. He wanted both children to get the two eyed one and stated out loud that he paid for them just like an adult. We all just stared at him, well that isn't true, I made a rather loud comment that we paid the same price and only had a one eye type...

I did it and enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a really unique tour and I wished it was longer. For the money though, I might like it better during the day when you can see more. We just booked for June. My son will be 13 and he loves the animals so I hope it will be worth the $298 it is costing us for 4 of us.
