Is it Friday yet?

Just packed( my bag, not his) and I squee'd when I put my bright yellow ME tags on

10 glorious days. Dinner at Jiko arrival night( our anniversary) and CL. can we say spoiled rotten? did I mention F&W?!

is there or is there not Free WiFi at the resort now? I keep getting conflicting info.. some say it's ten buck per 24 hours, other sources say it is now free..

if not, I am leaving the laptop at home, I can check email on my smartphone.

if there is, I can justify bringing it for downtime and to make everyone green with envy at our FB picture downloads.
We leave on Friday too, but I have not even brought up suitcases yet :) I need to start laying out stuff for the kids so I can make those twenty or so last minute trips to the store.

Hi, all:
We will be at AKL for the first time ever Nov 5-8 and then onto DCL Fantasy. I wrote to the itinerary planning folks to ask for a change in time for Boma. I mentioned that I had done online registration and requested a room near the elevator and near the lobby. We are CL and have difficulty in walking long distances. The following was in their reply.

If you want to minimize walking those were good selections. You may not have as great a view of the savannah but you will still see animals.

This is confusing since we thought CL all had good animal and savannah views. Should I have made a different request?

I sure do appreciate all the tips I've taken away from these boards and will appreciate any guidance in this matter.

Thanks so much,
Jennie

Our DVC points rental was processed and we just got the Savannah view studio room and we're so excited! I was worried that I'd be at the Art of Animation for Christmas, but husband came through with a fabulous update!

We're going to be there December 21-27. We've been to WDW many times but this is the first time we're staying on property - we usually use our timeshare points at the Marriott.

What is the size of a "studio" room compared to a typical hotel room? I figure it's small, but maybe a little bigger? We're in the Kidani Village if that helps any.

So happy to be part of this thread. Long time passholder for both Disney and WDW, but just recently discovered the boards.

I'm slightly confused by your post. You stated you had trouble walking and asked to be placed next to the elevator and lobby (which most everybody requests) and the CM who responded to you stated that those would be great requets to help reduce your walking. I'd say mission accomplished, you made the right requests!!

If it was a gauranteed great Savannah View you were after, I personally would never choose Club Level because the rooms with good Savannah Views are so limited and you are taking a huge risk in not getting a good view if you choose Club Level.

On one visit we had a room close to the lobby. We didn't like it. I'll try to explain it. You get a great view of Arusha Rock, but, because the building curves out, you get a limited view of the savanna. Rooms that are further down the hallway have a better (larger) view of the savanna. I hope I didn't confuse you. :goodvibes

We were there in July and there is definitely free wifi in rooms and around the resort.

Quick Magic Band ? We are a party of 5 checking into the kidani in Nov. we are 4 adults, 1 child.

Is there anyway to put separate credit card for purchases and delegate to the bands or is it one credit card per party when you check in.

More info on the resort board on a tablet now and slow typing just wanted to let you AKL fans know.

Just got home from work and sitting at my door was......wait for it.......wait for it.......wait for it.......

MAGIC BANDS!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:
(and yes I was forced to try mine on to make sure it fit right away and it does)

This means the packing can officially begin in my eyes as in exactly 22 days I will be loading the fam up in the family truckster and head right on down to the airport!:cool1::cool1:

Man this is gonna be the longest 3 weeks EVER!

Can not wait to share our pictures with everyone. It will be my sons first time down since he was 10 months and he is 5 now....So its all brand new for him and I can wait to live it through his eyes and catch all his wonderful reactions on camera!

Sorry for the confusion. This is our first time at AKL and I've been reading the posts for over a year. One of the reasons we took club level was because we thought it assured us a wonderful view of the savannah, so that was part of "our mission:. We aren't planning on leaving the resort for the three days. I didn't think our difficulty in walking would take away the opportunity for a good view. Now I'm the one who is confused. We really paid a lot for the room and there is no discount or even meal plan available for that week, but we felt it would be worth it for the animal viewing.

In '09 we stayed CL with my parents. My father is mobility challenged. I called and spoke with the CL IPO to let them know we needed a room close to the CL elevators (they are the ones near the front of the lobby). They gave us the first room on the Zebra trail (can't remember the number). Yes, you are right in front of Arusha rock, but you do see many animals when they are out. Do remember that there are times that they are in to be fed/examined.

If you are spending time at the Lodge, then you should get your money's worth out of CL if you take advantage of their offerings.

I'm getting a bit confused now too. So if you stay in a club room, you don't automatically get a good view?

...I' going to have to start a new thread soon...at least before we're off to AKL next month...

correct. the CL perks are in the access to the lounge( which BTW is on a different floor than the CL rooms) and the special safari, not in a guaranteed awesome view. but since there are plenty of places to hang out and get that view elsewhere, I don't need to be serenaded by giraffes at sunset on my balcony.

I'd rather hang out with the CMs and hear their stories anyway.

Wow, this is a MAJOR bummer. :( I have a club room booked for 2 nights, thinking we would have an amazing view.
I am wondering if I should cancel it, now? :(
