AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Does anyone know if the AKL's quick service restaurant will be closed in August? I'm checking for my husband's co-worker. I thought I read it somewhere.

Were there any good discounts for the beginning of August this year for pool view room ? Just planning ahead I'm hoping there will be the same next year .

I see offers all the time for 30% off Deluxe resorts. Sometimes it's free dining which save you just a little more (if you like eating lot's of food).

I originally booked with a pin discount that was under my name and received 35% off (this was a package= room, DDP & park tickets) when free dining came out I called up Disney and found out I could save $14.70 by switching to the free dining plan.

I haven't heard anything about it. I would think that if they were they would be e-mailing those with ressy's during refurbishment. Hope I'm right.

If you haven't heard I'm probably wrong... Just thought I had seen it somewhere.. Now I wonder if I was dreaming!

....yes, I agree...great pix! :thumbsup2

....only thing is, did they say that it was a std room, or did they upgrade you and maybe you didn't realize it? The reason I ask is because the std rooms are located in Giraffe and Ostrich trails...they were never in Kudu....:confused3

All they had left for booking this morning was Pool View Bunk Bed room for our trip. We're brother and sister, and worse comes to worse i'll make my brother sleep on the bunk bed lol but we really don't want a bunk bed room. I'll check diligently to try and switch it before the trip (September 28th) but what are the odds of switching to a regular pool view room at check in? Maybe they can give it to an unsuspecting family of 4?

...you might get lucky, but I wouldn't bet on it...you must remember that F&WF will be in full swing by then...I hope you didn't get charged more for that room since a bunk room is an 'upgrade' and typically costs a little more...

We had a Pool View under the GP but switched it to the pass holder when it came out this morning so we could add the dining plan without tickets. The entire reservation actually came out $100 less than the regular pool view room. If the savannah wasn't $100 more per night I would switch it to that and call it a day. Its out of the budget for the 7 night trip.

Won't hurt to ask I suppose, we'll just prepare for the "worst" (#firstworldproblems, right? lol) and hope for the best!

If you look at my post a few pages back: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=52054167&postcount=3376
there are actually quite a few standard view rooms in the Kudu trail.

The room that this particular family stayed in(4326) is classed as a standard view room.

We were at AKL from 7/12-7/19. We booked a standard room but at online check-in selected the two view options (I don't recall what they were). At check in, I peeked at the CMs iPad and we were upgraded to a partial view room on Kudo trail (rooms 3222 and 3224). We saw quite a few animals and they fed the giraffes just off the to left of our room! It was a beautiful view considering we were prepared for no view at all!

(FYI - 3222 is a bunk bed room, which de-lighted my children!)

I'm so jealous of all of you planning your trips! Have a wonderful time :-)

I know, but it has been a long time, my friend. And yet you keep the list! :goodvibes

True very true.

I have no even started planning for the next one. Work keeps me so busy, I just don't have time.

:(

Anyone want to plan my Flower and Garden trip?

It feels good paying off your trip so congratulations : ) We just paid off ours last week so I know the feeling you have and it's excitement to know you'll be in the WDW bubble so very soon! Our dates are Nov 9-19 AKL CL followed by GF RPCL November 19-23 ... When are your dates? How awesome your staying in a grand villa!!!!! Take lots of pictures : )

We'll be there for just 10 nights, October 17th through the 27th. At almost $2000 a night I had to limit myself to a shorter trip. I'm very excited though! I'm counting down everyday. Hope you guys enjoy your trip as well.

Wowza!! That's one chunk of change per night and please post pictures when you return the end of Oct. ... It certainly must be a Grand Villa and I'm so happy for you : ) Have a lovely fun filled vacation!!! Although I am sure I'll see you again on this thread in the meantime ...

...my take on this is that, when some of the rooms were converted to dvc, they accomodated by making some std rooms in Kudu Trail....
