AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

This time tomorrow we should be relaxing in the lounge, maybe enjoying a cold beverage. With just enough pixiedust: maybe we'll even be in our own room watching animals!

So my friend and I have overlapping days for our vacation so I thought we could meet for a drink at AKL. However there are too many lounges to choose from!!! I've never been to AKL, so which lounge area do you guys prefer?

....well, Victoria Falls is lovely. However, why not meet in the lobby at Jambo House and head on over to Kidani to Sanaa Lounge?

Hey Everyone!!

I wanted to come and introduce myself! My Fiancee and I have just switched our Reservations over for our Honeymoon this December to the Jambo House 1 bedroom Villa!!! We couldn't be more excited!

Question.. How is the transportation to and from the parks? We originally were booked at the Contemporary, which was a hop skip and a jump to MK, but It really looks like the other parks are closer to AK resort, other than MK..

I am seriously excited to have booked this for our Honeymoon! I feel like this will give us more of a honeymoon feeling than the garden view at the Contemporary!!!

Welcome!!
Congratulations regarding your upcoming nuptials! AKL is the perfect honeymoon resort. Take the time to enjoy the resort. Victoria Falls is a great place to sit and enjoy people watching. And I cant say enough about Jiko. There are all sorts of quiet tucked away nooks to just enjoy as well.

As for transportation, I have done AKL with and without a car. Having kids, I prefer the car, but that is true of every resort I stay at in WDW. Unless we are going to MK, I like to drive. I can gather the kids and head straight to the car. That being said, I took the kids and my mom down for a quick trip in March. We did WDW transportation the entire trip. I didn't have any have bad wait times. and once you get on a bus, the drive (ride) is only 10-20 minutes.

HAHAHA! I was just posting the opposite! I love Victoria Falls. I also love to sit in the lounge are in Jiko. But AKV just doesn't do it for me. I feel like Sanaa is hidden in the basement. Truly, you cant go wrong with any of the three. :thumbsup2

I was at AKL last weekend and the pool was extremely crowded both Saturday and sunday (july 19-20) - not a seat to be found. So we opted to go back to our room and enjoy the view of the animals when we needed downtime from the parks. And then we noticed that there were a lot of people on their balconies doing the same thing.

So we were trying to figure out why the pool was so crowded with guests on their balconies and other guests in the parks. Is the pool area just too small for the size of this resort or do people suspect that non-resort guests are somehow using the pool?

I know this used to be a major problem at the Beach Club resort with non guests using the pool before they started to check magic bands, but AKL is off the beaten path so I can't figure out if that many people are sneaking in to use the pool.

Aside from the overcrowded pool we had a great stay! The view of the Arusha savannah is fantastic especially at night when the animals get even closer to the building.

I have to vote that it's hot so people are using the pools. Doubt it's any thing more than that. When it's hot, all the pools get more use

Victoria Falls in Jambo is one of my favorite lounges in all of WDW. I just love that room.

Called today to price options for our trip next month. We're 15 days out and currently have reservations at POP. I've been thinking about AKL since I made the reservations two weeks ago. Anyways, Arusha View is the only Savanna room available for our dates. I usually prefer ground floor rooms, but am unsure if the views will be nice from the ground floor here. Thoughts?

Also, my MIL and DH are big coffee drinkers. Is it easy to keep coffee pods stocked in the room or should I plan to bring our own?

Thanks for any help! I'm really trying to sell DH on the idea of this upgrade and would love to have it all booked today!

....I booked a culinary demo at the F&WF for October 30th this morning! I'm so excited! :cool1:

There are no Savanna view rooms on the ground floor. Only standard and pool view. All Savanna view rooms are elevated above the height where any animals could reach. All Arusha view rooms have a great view of the main Savanna.

With 4 and a half months to go, I think we're all booked -
Room, livable ADRs, plane tickets + DME for sister, plane tickets and rental car for us, hotel room for night before we fly (6am flight). I think all that's left is FP+ in October.

We had a 2nd floor room Arusha view and LOVED it. We were pretty close to eye level with the giraffes and thought it was spectacular! We're rather sad that this trip we have to be in a suite - therefore higher up.

Good to know! I ended up switching to AKL shortly after I posted here. I cannot wait! It's our first time staying Deluxe :cool1: I'm hoping I can snag a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

I hope the suite is nice enough to make you forget about your floor number!! :)

Hi Everybody,
We are getting close! 14 days today! :cool1::cool1::cool1: If someone is back and can post the August activities schedule that would be cool!

In addition, what kind of coffee do I need for Jambo? I have always dreamed about having coffee on the balcony by myself (giggle) and enjoying the animals. So coffee is essential to this bucket list experience. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

BWWWWAAAAAA, I am getting so excited!!!!:banana::banana:

We will be staying at Kidani Village for the first time in November. If we want to get over to Jambo House what is the easiest way to get there? The shuttle or just get on any disney bus that is going to a theme park ( I heard that Kidani is the 1st stop and then Jambo next) which form of transporation is the easiet the shuttle or the theme park bus?
