AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Help!! I'm trying to figure out some food options. Can you get Pizza delivered to this resort?

Some Disney resorts which don't have full room service menus will do pizza delivery to the room, so that might be what you were thinking of.

You can have a regular (non-Disney owned) pizza place deliver a pizza to the hotel. You probably will have to meet them in the lobby.

If someone slips a flyer under your door, make sure you do NOT order from them -- it could be a scam to steal your credit card number.

Ask at the front desk or Guest Relations desk in the hotel lobby, and they will be able to tell you which places commonly deliver to the hotel.

Two places which are commonly mentioned over on the DVC Boards are:

Thin Crust Pizza delivery to hotel:
www.FlippersPizzeria.com
note that it is NOT FlippersPizzaria.com
Lake Buena Vista/Disney: (407) 938-9633

Deep Dish delivery to hotel:
www.giordanos.com
Lake Buena Vista (Disney): 407-239-8900
Orlando: 407-377-0022

Hi everyone!! AKL newbie here; I switched our 10-day August WL CL stay to AKL CL and I'm so excited!! :yay:

I booked the sunrise safari and also have Jiko scheduled for dinner. What else shouldn't I miss? What are your thoughts on the pool? I love spending hot summer afternoons by the pool, so a good one is a selling point for me.

Thanks!!

Hi and welcome, I am a WL pool gate switcher too : ) this will be our first stay at AKL as well and we are also looking forward to the beautiful pool. I've been googling pictures of both the pools and they both equally look incredible and have a cocktail/ snack shops at both pools. Also in the evening they have an outdoor observation area where they have night vision goggles to see animals you may like, as well as a nighttime fire pit area outdoors. The main gift shop is suppose to be one of the nicest at any hotel on site if your interested in shopping. We made reservations at Sanaa for lunch one of our days since the window views are suppose to be nice and the food fabulous.
I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip in August since our trip isn't until November and will be doing the sunrise safari, Jiko's, the pool and staying CL as well. So you'll provably be helping me more in the future than I am right now ... : )

For both of you...

The pools at both Jambo & Kidani are equally nice.. Jambo is a lot bigger with more shaded areas. Also has a shorter slide. A ton of lounge chairs to choose from too. Nice poolside bar but also the Mara is right there for other goodies.

Kidani pool is definitely smaller but equally as impressive. It has a way longer slide and also has a separate water play area which is great for the kids. It also has a poolside bar which has beverages and snacks too.

Both have secluded hot tubs nearby. Kidani is gated and Jambo isn't. Take time to enjoy them both.

Did they move the night vision goggles indoors from where they used to be outside beyond the pool @ Jambo?

While it was really fantastic that you were upgraded, having a pool view wouldn't have been too shabby either...;)

Don't worry, I was excited about the pool view before we arrived. :) But, gotta admit, the giraffes are pretty nice to look at. :lovestruc

Can anyone tell me how many pool view bunk bed rooms there are? Any suggestions on rooms? I tried to look on touring plans but is disney seem to help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you plug in the standard view rooms at Touring Plans resort page? That should help you see what options there are at AKL. I'm not sure there are any ground level rooms there. If you mean floor 1, since that is where the animals are and they don't really want the guests hanging out with them ;)...

....gee, I can't imagine why....:rolleyes1 popcorn:: [ :teeth: ]

I plugged in pool view/bunk bed and Touring Plans returned that there are 33 rooms found in that category.

Flippers Pizza is very good...we used them when we stayed at USO Royal Pacific...

Are the Arusha view rooms typically far from the lobby? When I did on line check in I did put "close to lobby" as a request....is that even going to be a possibility? Thanks!

Not necessarily. The Lobby itself has an Arusha view.

The floor would be where the difference comes in to play. Lobby is on 3rd floor.

The map found here really helped me picture the layout much better. If you key in your room parameters you can narrow down exactly where those rooms are located, which helps even more

Don't know if this works with their site or not. I put in close to lobby, 3 min or less and Arusha Queen beds and this is the location of some of the rooms that it shows (these are Kudu Trail)

I have booked a standard view room for next year. I note that there are a couple of room options including a room with bunk beds, but when I booked it didn't give me an option as to which sort of room I would like. I tried phoning, but all WDTC UK can offer is an upgrade to Arusha view room with bunk beds. Is there a way that I can contact AKL to request a bunk bed room? Is this a request that can be made during on line check in?

TIA

Bunk beds are a bookable category, you could request, but it is typically an extra charge. If there's something available, you may get it though.

Last trip we were upgraded tot eh bunked arusha view and loved it.
