AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Remember that "AKV" includes both Jambo House and Kidani Village. I stayed AKV Club Level at Jambo House in March and had a package shipped there by FedEx. When I got to my room and called Bell Services to have my luggage brought up to my room, I told them about the package, but they refused to bring it up to my room. They said I had to go down to the front desk to get it. So I went down to the front desk, but it was too heavy for me to carry by myself. The lady at the front desk said she would have a runner bring it up. Someone did bring it up, but it took at least a half hour.

There is no fee to pick up a package shipped to Jambo House or Kidani Village. The fee is charged by an outside company which manages the offices in the hotel Conference Centers. AKL does not have a conference center.

According to Disneyworld.com, the address for Kidani Village is:
3701 Osceola Parkway
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-8445
phone (407) 938-7400

The address for Jambo House is:
2901 Osceola Parkway
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-8410
phone (407) 938-3000

I always put in the address "Hold for arriving guest [my name]."

You do not need to put your reservation number or arrival date on the package. If you are using a company like FedEx, there won't be room for all of that stuff on the label.

The shipping labels do have a place for the phone number of the address you are shipping to, so take the phone number with you when you go to ship the package.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you :D

We are staying in a 2 bedroom lock off (Standard view) at Kidani in Sept. Does anybody have any recommendations for requests?

Is the roof renovation very disruptive, or almost complete? We'll be there May 15-22....

A. the project is supposed to be complete by 5/3

B. Depending on what parts of the roof they're working on, it shouldn't be terribly disruptive. The vast majority of the roof at AKL is flat roofing and we rehab those all the time in occupied spaces with very few complaints. It's not even especially noisy. The false mansards that look like thatched roofs are different. That could make a mess. I have no specifics other than what's on this site.

We were there a few weeks ago, and they were doing a major fix on the thatched roof area at Jambo by the pool over the entrance to Jiko and Boma. If anything, there could be problems with pool views until they're complete, but we were laying by the pool at literally the closest point to the construction and I was still able to fall asleep in the sun and get a great tan. :thumbsup2. It was noisy but rhythmic in a way that wasn't too disruptive. I think the fact that we haven't had anyone come here and complain about how awful it was basically says it's not too bad.

I have a few questions since our trip is getting closer:cool1: We rented DVC points and are staying 8 nights in a Deluxe Studio Savannah View-Jambo House

1. What is provided? I guess a list from me would be better than y'all doing all of the hard work: toilet paper, paper towels, utensils, plates/bowls, dish soap, pool towels, coffee filters, garbage bags.

2. If there's no Keurig (yeah, I'm spoiled), what size coffee filter do I need?

3. Where are the dumpsters to take our garbage?

4. Free or available WiFi in the room? I have to do school work, UGH!

I think that's all for now, but I'm sure I'll have more.

Thanks again for your help!

5 FRICKEN days .... I am freaking out ! ! ! ! ! !

Seriously, just had to share with some people that would understand !!!

Oh, quick question while I am here, I am torn on this because I was assured twice by CMs that my standard view DVC DLx studio would have pool room, and I have been informed by you fine folks that it MIGHT not.

I am thinking if I don't get that room view I will just go down and firmly, but politely (as I know its not the person at the front desk's fault) complain and ask to be moved.

BUT, do you think I should put a room request in ? Is there a fax # or something. It worked really well for us last year at POR.

Thanks ... And ... FREAKING OUT !!!!

I guess a list from me would be better than y'all doing all of the hard work: toilet paper, paper towels, utensils, plates/bowls, dish soap, pool towels, coffee filters, garbage bags. Pool towels are not included with your DVC villa - you can get them at the pool. You will get trash and towel service on day 4; a full villa cleaning on day 8. Actually, there are no coffee filters; they provide the large pods (self-contained coffee) which creates less mess for Mousekeepping! ;) We always bring the basket filters and Starbucks ground coffee!

2. If there's no Keurig (yeah, I'm spoiled), what size coffee filter do I need? 10-12 cup basket filters.

3. Where are the dumpsters to take our garbage? In Jambo, there's a trash room (on 5th floor just off the lobby on Zebra Trail.

4. Free or available WiFi in the room? I have to do school work, UGH! There is Free WiFi EVERYWHERE on WDW Property! The resorts (guest rooms, DVC villas & the lobbies), at the parks..... :thumbsup2

I think that's all for now, but I'm sure I'll have more.

AKL does not accept faxes so don't waste your time. Have you done online check-in? Request "near lobby" - that would be a pool view! Don't stress about it - all the times I have stayed DVC "standard" view at Jambo, I have had a pool view (although the restaurant roof and some of the trees obstruct the view of the pool).

They want happy guests so they will do everything they can to get you into the room location that will make you happy. :)

I may be biased, but AKL provides the BEST service of all the resorts...and I've stayed at most of them...

:dancer:Does Jambo house standard room w/ Arusha Savanna view now have Ipod docking alarm clocks? Wondering if I need to pack our mobile speakers or not? TIA

So very excited. We head to Florida on Friday and next Monday we head to Kidani for five wonderful nights.

For all the experts out there.
Staying at Kidani in Nov and in a 1 bedroom, Savannah view.
I would love for the kids to see a giraffe and zebra out of our room. Is there a section I should request?

...not sure which savannah would have those animals, but I'm thinking Sunset Savannah...

1. What is provided? I guess a list from me would be better than y'all doing all of the hard work:
toilet paper - yes
paper towels - yes
utensils - plastic silverware
plates/bowls - paper
dish soap - yes
pool towels - there are towels at the pool
coffee filters - someone else will have to answer this one
garbage bags - yes

2. If there's no Keurig (yeah, I'm spoiled), what size coffee filter do I need?
Not sure

3. Where are the dumpsters to take our garbage? No dumpsters. There will be a room which has a trash can and various recycle bins. Someone else should be able to give you more details.

4. Free or available WiFi in the room? I have to do school work, UGH!
Free WiFi, but at Disney the WiFi in the early morning is better than in the evening.

I think that's all for now, but I'm sure I'll have more.

See answers above in red.

Pool towels:

Coffee maker from 1 bedroom Club Level. I didn't actually make coffee.

Here's the alarm clock which was in the 1 BR Club level villa in Jambo House. It was not the iPod docking type. I don't know if the ones in the regular rooms are different.

You can definitely see both of those from Kidani on the Sunset Savannah!

Thanks looks like we'll need to bring our own docking station.

I'm so excited about our first AKL CL stay in a little over 2 weeks that I just keep watching YouTube videos and rereading the hotel descriptions!!!! Can't wait to celebrate my birthday and Mother's Day there (even though it is a week late) - I don't care! I'll be at AKL and enjoying CL there!!

Sorry... just had to share!
