AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

So, I have been hanging onto our GF reservation for quite some time, with the contemplation of doing AKL instead....but GF is winning out this time...you can remove me from the August list.

We'll get to AKL someday. :goodvibes

You have been removed!

The mid-afternoons breaks were so-so. Veggies, cheeses, munchies, and then a cute area for the kids with PB&J sandwiches, gummy bears, goldfish.

Also contemplating an AKL club stay. And I have to say those afternoon snacks are way better than the ones offered where we've stayed (Poly, CR, BC, WL). We are used to just the goldfish-type things and that's it. So AKL also has cheese/veggies/pb&j sandwiches?! That's really nice.:thumbsup2

Couple questions about AKL Club ... we just watched the videos of it and it looks impressive actually.

But I am wondering a couple things a) are there limits to the amount of food you can eat ? b) are there limits to the number of alcoholic beverages ? c) can you bring any or all of either snacks or beer/wine back to your room ???

Maybe there is a sticky on this, but I figured you fine people would be able to answer in a hurry.

TIA !

no, no, and yes.

These are meant as snack, not dinner, and the drinks are like a pre happy our before you go out, and yes I have taken cheeses and beer to my fridge and had for dessert after my return.

Ah nice, that's kind of what I was wondering, its not meant to essentially become an "all inclusive" I know that, the food makes that pretty apparent, although I am pretty sure I could survive on crackers and cheese because I LOVE them, not that I would try with so many other wonderful foods at WDW though :) and some of the other stuff I have seen, like turkey patties and fish cakes etc, a few of those and it looks like lunch :) And I have repeated seen people here posting about eating breakfast and lunch in the lounge ...

It does seem like you can eat a pretty full breakfast there, But I was seriously wondering if you would be able to grab like 4 or 5 beers and bring them back to our room for my wife and I to split or what have you ... or if there is someone working there who will tell you 'no' or who monitors how much you are taking etc ...

....while I agree with you that the breakfasts are pretty filling and can get you going til' way past lunch, I don't think the offerings are very filling to suffice as a lunch/dinner. It's up to the individual as to whether they would feel 'embarrassed' [ or otherwise] if they were to remove too much food as they were leaving the lounge area. I've never been approached by anyone - of course, I've never taken an exorbitant amount of food either,so.....

They'll give you as many beers as you want, and are constantly refilling the food.

When we stayed CL at WL, the CM's knew DH's beer of choice well and one day after coming home late from the parks we noticed that 6 beers had been placed in the fridge. :p

The next day, one of the awesome CM's said to him "they figured he wouldn't be back in time and wanted to make sure he was supplied" :goodvibes

So Kim, judging by one of your previous threads, it appears that you MAY be going...Does this lead us to believe it's in that month? Or do your other comments about the wine, CL videos have us to believe that you'll hopefully be going during F&W....Im already past my 11 months window, but I was going to try n get BCV if possible for the 7 month, If not then a shot at AKV again...Hopefully yoy hubby will want to go....I'm contemplating either Fri. Oct 31st after work or Saturday Early morning - thru the following Sunday....We don't want to miss out on the X-mas decorations, & certainly not Osbornes Spectacle of Lights ether..:thumbsup2 Heres for some pixiedust:for ya..

I turned off autocorrect, it was driving me crazy! It would change words that were spelled correctly if it thought I wasn't using the right word...

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback about CL.

Not that I wanna grab like 5 turkey patties to bring back to my room, but it would be nice to know that at the end of the day we could come back and have a glass (read bottle) of wine or a few beers and unwind in the lounge or our room if we choose.

Thanks guys, staying DVC this trip but are SUPER intrigued about CL ... we usually order in groceries for breakfasts and quite a bit of wine/beer/booze for our stays, and we like to stay 2 weeks at a time ... would be interesting to see if its worth it to jump up to CL, I could really see it if we had little ones, but we don't ... of course, that probably means we have a few more drinks then those with little ones ...

Anyway, thanks again. Super excited for our May stay, even if its not CL this time !

....you already know when next school year's "Jersey Week" is?

....you already know when next school year's "Jersey Week" is?

Yea....I'm surprised u don't know this already.... Its always the 1st Thur/Frid after election day which is always the first Tues of Nov.

I like to get there prior. Either take the kids out on Friday before or early sat. Problem is the Friday this year is Halloween. The maze that I made was a big hit for the trick or treaters this year, so I may have to up the ante , which means we have to be here for Halloween.:confused3

I was just talking to DH about this thread and he thinks that the veggies/PB&J/cheese cubes were offered (at a special kids area in the CL separate from the adult offerings) in the early evening hours and not the mid-afternoon. I think he might be right. So, gummies/goldfish for all apparently, lol.

Ahhh...but see? That's where you are wrong. Disney with toddlers (well, mine anyway) requires copious amounts of booze. ;)

Isn't that the truth? I love staying CL. My kids don't have huge appetites, and I'm not a big dinner person, so the evening offerings were always fine for me. And if someone wanted more to eat, the Mara was just a few floors away.

A few years back, my sister's flight to Orlando was delayed a few hours. I asked at the CL lounge if I could get a glass of wine to take back to the room for her since she wouldn't be in until after the lounge closed. They packed up a whole bottle for us and added a nice sample of the desserts that would be out that night. It was very nice of them. Now that we're a party of five (and six when our youngest turns three), CL at the AKL is out of our price range. And having stayed in a one-bedroom suite at Kidani (rented DVC points), my husband isn't keen on connecting rooms (which might be doable if we got a nice discount). My son is particularly sad about it because he really liked "that place with the Cheerios."
