AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Thank you for the warm welcome!
Isn't there a way to book a Savanna View room separate than the Arusha Savanna? I only ask because when I look online to price out rooms, they have "savanna view" listed at one rate, and "arusha view" listed at another... We were hoping to guarantee that we could get a savanna view without paying the extra to "upgrade" to the better Arusha View...
Trying to sort all of this new info out :upsidedow

Thanks!!! I think I may be doing something wrong, because when I put in my info on the side where the drop down choices are and I select "Savanna View/Queen Beds" it's not showing anything... maybe I'm confused as to what room I'm really looking for! :rotfl:

Thank you both for the quick replies!

Here is a little bit more detailed info on what type of animals are in what savanna. Welcome to the thread and enjoy your trip.

Yes. A Savannah view that is not called Arusha View a view of a savannah other than Arusha. Only the Arusha view rooms are guaranteed to be Arusha view.

Thanks!
Is there anywhere to look and see on a map where those rooms are located?
I tried looking on that very cool touringplans map that was in the link but nothing was coming up for "savanna view/queen beds"
I just want to have a general idea of where they may be and/or if there are any requests I should/can make for the best view within those rooms...
I'm assuming they are on the outer parts of the "horseshoe" since the Arusha Savanna is in the middle?

...I'd call directly and request Savannah View - Ostrich Trail....definitely.

I've booked marked a few maps that people have shared on this thread. I think these were the best(since I didn't keep the others).

http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5.php (Bah! Never mind this is for DVC only! Sorry)

I've tried using the touring plans one as well. Takes some fiddling. Though I'm sure I'm still doing it wrong. Nice to actually see the view from the room though if they have it.

Hope it helps and welcome to the thread, its awesome here! :cloud9:

Thank you all so much! This will keep me busy for a while! In the best possible way, of course :goodvibes
I'm learning so much and everyone is so helpful. Thanks!!! :flower3:

Yes, Arusha Savannah is the middle one.
You don't have to use the menu along the side to see the view. If you click over on the map that shows the buildings it will open another map that shows individual rooms you can then click around on it and see the view from that room, or a nearby room when there is no pic from that room. It even tells you what to put on your request if you want a room with a view similar to what you see in the photo.
Just play with the map a bit, it gets easy to figure out pretty quick.

Apologies in advance if this has been asked frequently, but I cannot seem to find an answer after a quick search..

Can anyone tell me if/when the AKL will undergo room renovations? My understanding is that the resort recently converted to triple sheeting only (similar to the GF, which then started full room renovations shortly thereafter).

Does anyone have pictures of the current rooms?

Thank you! :)

We get there in 13 days. Today I got an email survey about our Disney planning experience. Any one else get that that arrives soon?

Hi all!
We are booked for AKL CL next month - I know that those rooms are on the 4th floor but where abouts are they? Near the lobby or all over the 4th floor? Just curious - Thanks!

Hi all!

AKL CL rooms are usually in the first pod off the lobby - both on Kudu Trail and Zebra Trail, which is Arusha Savannah - plus very convenient to most everything (Lounge, pool, restaurants, transportation). :thumbsup2 (Occasionally, CL guests will be in the 2nd pod off the lobby - still very convenient!)

We have stayed CL numerous times and have gotten rooms # 4219 and 4225 on multiple occasions! :cloud9:

Besides being convenient for CL guests, it makes it easier for Mousekeeping and turn-down service to have the CL rooms clustered together! ;)

We've stayed at AKL many times, but not since 2/12 so it's been a little while and the pricing is now different. On our next trip in June, my sister is staying at AKL, savannah view. We're at BWV so being near us is not a concern, but I'm wondering if there is any benefit to requesting a certain trail animal wise. She's traveling alone and gets up early so she's looking forward to sitting out on the balcony and looking at the animals. Most recently we stayed on Arusha, so I don't really remember what is on Uzima vs Sunset. Is one more active in the early AM vs the other?

Also, what is the time on the bus from AKL to MK? My wife and I are disagreeing, she says about 15 minutes, I say 20-25. This is assuming the bus is there right away.

It kinds depends because the busses sometimes back up getting into MK. So 15-25 might be right. :rotfl2: it also depends on how long it takes to actually load people, e.g., if someone has an ECV or just trying to stuff people on the loaded bus. In general I would say about 20 mins is the norm.

We are booked for AKL January 9-13, 2015 :cool1:

SO excited to stay there - it's our first time & we booked a Savanna view. My husband will never want to leave!

Edited to say January instead of July - I keep doing that today for some reason!!

We just booked this morning too! 24th August - 1st September 2015! Never been to AKL before, we just did standard view, so excited. Can't wait to get all the AKL information!

....wishful thinking...:confused3 [ ;) ]

We also booked the other day for our honeymoon. Feb 14-16, 2015 at AKL then 4 days on the Dream. We can't wait to see what view we get for our savanna room! Also will be celebrating my fiancé's birthday since he is a Valentine's Day baby!
