We are renting points to stay at AKV, booking in Jambo so we can be close to Bomas and Mara... Can we still use the pool in Kidani???

Should I request a certain area of AKL? I'm going to call to change my view from standard to pool, but I didn't know if there was a certain floor or location I should request when I call?

I wuld ask for Zebra trail as this puts you in the vicinity for the elevator down to the pool and close to Mara. Also, when you walk along the hallways of Zebra trail, you have windows out to the savannah side of the trail. I personally prefer a higher floor and therefore always request 4th floor. But if you have a stroller 3rd floor is best as this is the same level as the lobby.

 I never find Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to be a refreshing experience!! But I know what you mean about your long travel day - I used to live in California and Colorado.

I will definitely be taking notes (and pictures!) at Jambo & Kidani!

Must remember to check the Room Service Menu for the Prime Rib for TyRy! (and don't think we didn't know you were lurking 312.duck! ;))

Thanks for the advice. DH and I enjoy the upper floor as well, so I guess I will be requesting Zebra trail!:)

Yes, AKL is considered to be one resort with two parts: Kidani and Jambo House. So all guests can use both pools. Have a great stay! :goodvibes

I'm curious about the logistics of this-I know when Kidani first opened there was mention that it was about 1/2 mile from Jambo house but that the walkway hadn't been finished yet...so taking bus seemed the best option...

but with the talk of the bus confusion...:confused3

Does anyone know when the walkway between the two is expected to be finished?

(I'm deciding whether its worth taking ds over there to swim...(i think the pool at Jambo House is lovely but being a kid, I'm sure the Kidani pool will look really exciting to him-if the walkway is open-we can at least walk one way-probably back in wet bathing suits)

Otherwise we'll just wait to do our Kidani exploration our last day-and have lunch at Sanaa...and turn the little fellow"s head when we check out the pool area...:cool2:

I think I read somewhere that you can walk it, but it is not a very pleasant walk because you walk along a road and/or parking spaces. It supposedly takes 15 to 20 min. I think walking there makes more sense since going Jambo -> Kidani you have to take the DTD bus and those are not the most frequent ones. Kindani -> Jambo you can hop on any theme park bus. Also if it is hot, better do the walking before you are getting refreshed at the pool! :goodvibes

I have a drinks question if that is OK! I guess that if you have refillable mugs then you refill them at the Mara? What time does this open on a morning so I can get coffee? Also, if it isn't open in time for us to have coffee before catching an early bus to the parks do they replace the filter coffee in your room each day when your room is serviced?

Thanks -- that's great advice. I was wondering the same thing myself (if it's worth it to go over to use the pool area). I love the Jambo pool and it's so convenient. I'll probably let DD decide. I like the idea of walking then swimming then taking a bus back. :)

...yes, the refillable mugs are on sale at the Mara, which is where you would refill them also....it's usually open by 7AM, if I remember correctly...howver, if you prefer to make your own coffee, mousekeeping usually replaces any missing items you may need (clean cups, sugar packets, etc.)...hope this helps...:)

...I personally like Zebra Trail because, as you walked towards your room, you could look to either side of the hallways where the windows are and see either the savannah or the pool area...

My cousin gave me a week stay at AKL, we have a Savannah View studio, and I am not sure how AKL is laid out. What is the best location and what is the worse? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

Not sure if it has been said but Kidani pool is gated so you need your room key to get into the pool/spar area. It also seems half finished there were boards up behind the hot tub. No smoking areas have been confirmed although the bar staff were giving out makeshift ashtrays for people to go smoke behind the bar area.
It was very quiet which was a plus though it looks like it will be way to small when all AKV open up.

The walk took us 5-10 min max more on the 5 side we found it very easy even in the hottest part of the day.

I believe that Mara actually opens at 6 or 6:30. However, hot food isn't available until 7.

Out of total curiosity (since I am still months away from my next trip), does anyone know if all of the rain has finally stopped at WDW?

...my DS has been staying at BCV since 5/18; he said that it's been really hot the last few days...

That's perfect thanks. We plan on packing some cereal bars in our suitcase so we can have a quick morning coffee and breakfast on the go so we can get to the parks early!
