Our local news just reported that the Walt Disney Company has purchased 15 acres of land at the National Harbor in the DC area. They are planning to build a 500 room hotel.

I JUST decided yesterday to look for a condo there. Hope this doesn't make the price go up, well at least not until after I buy.

You & your DD are lucky! My DD has almost another month of school to go. I wish our summer vacation started now -- much better for traveling -- plus I'm tired of all the homework coming home.

My DD will help with the packing -- that way she gets to choose what she wears! We did a surprise trip to DL last year and she kept asking me, "why didn't you pack xxx?" She turned 12 at WDW last month, though, and I think the teenage years are starting...

We've lived in the south for 22 years now and I STILL can't get used to the school calendar!!

No -- late August. I never complain about that, just the late end of school. Don't get me wrong, I really want her to be learning alot of things... it's just that at this time of year it feels like it should be over sooner! (That and, as a room parent, I'm just burnt-out at this point and want my responsibilities to end).

Thanks mmmears. I'm definitely bummed - but I'll make it back to Disney before too long... As for this summer, looks like DD and I are just going to have to settle for enjoying the beach and the pool

Thankfully, I was directed to this thread by Johnsonet who was helping me with a question that I PM'd her with. I actually had come across it before, but was intimidated by its length! I decided to jump in around post # 175 and now I'm up to speed. We have a December trip planned to AKL, and this thread is adding to the excitement. I'm gonna stay tuned!
