AKL LITE II - We're #2, but we try harder....

Yeah, you may be right...If I dont have my vacations to think about, I'll go nuts....But I do feel kinda guilty thinking of them

Well, I've always been in customer service....I worked at one call center for 11 years, I left when they started downsizing, I figured I'd get out before they pushed me out....Went to another call center in April, business was booming, until all of a sudden it came crashing down in Oct and they laid off a ton of people.

We have a Call Center in Kennesaw, GA (just north of Atlanta) "Ryla" who is hiring like crazy. With all the doom and gloom about jobs, this company has been all over our local news since they (supposedly) are doing so well. Now after reading about your recent experience, I wonder if this will be short-lived too.


OK, I have to go now and do my part to help the economy........ taking the 15 y/o to the Mall so she can Christmas shop for her friends!!!!

Thank you Brook for your pictures... I can't wait for DH to get home tonight to show him. You just reinforced that we made a good decision to buy into AKV!!!!
These next 8+ months are going to creep by until we get to see it in person!!!!

These pictures really don't even do the beauty of it justice! The lodge is TRULY breathtaking. I cannot wait to see the new DVC building!!!!!!!

Brookelizabeth: GREAT pictures. The resort is looking very vibrant (guess it really did need a coat or 2 of paint)! But now I'm having serious AKL/WDW withdrawal. (and you're snickering because you're going back again real soon!! )

I love the new paint designs they put on the building - it just makes it even more themed. They were also putting in new carpet and painting interior walls. I bet it looks BRAND NEW!

No snickering...(but I did smile thinking I will get to return very soon!), I have been in your boat, itching for that trip to come just a bit quicker!

Brookelizabeth - thanks for the pictures! I have tears in my eyes - yup, I am homesick. Then I laughed like crazy when you said you opened the case and took pics of the ZD's! Imagine what the CM's were thinking...or maybe they see stuff like that all the time! I do feel bad that you were so sick that you could not partake - maybe when you go back in Jan?

I know, I cannot even imagine what the CMs were thinking, I'm sure I was the talk in the lunchroom that day. But then again, I bet people do crazy stuff like that all the time, so who knows, maybe they are immune to it and don't even notice!

YES, when we go back in January, while there is no ADR set for AKL, I will go just for ZDs! I might suggest a Boma breakfast again as well...drool.

Oh, that is awful. I work at a Service Desk, similar to a Call Center, but very speicalized for our particular software (auditing and risk management - all the businesses "in trouble" right now are our clients!). When my company did layoffs a while back I was fearful we would loose someone on our team, but we DIDN'T! I was pretty shocked. But, we still are very busy and business has picked up again in Q4. I really hope you are able to find something SOON.

Well, I guess it really depends on the call center and what their product is....The one that I left after 11 years, was in the automotive industry...The company had opened other offices in other places in the country where the cost of living is cheaper, so they were paying their people a lot less than what they were paying us in Boston...From what I have heard, since the economy took a nose dive it's gotten worse there.

The call center I got laid off from specialized in group travel for people over 50...With the economy, and them worried about their 401k's, business feel apart, fast!
