I was told that not all club level rooms in AKV do NOT have Savanna views
Its not guaranteed...so we went with Savanna view..I would hate to disappoint DD10 on her b day trip! Is it the same for lodge rooms on Club level?
Interesting. That seems like a lot of money for extra snacks.![]()
I think if we decide to go with AKL our trip after next, we'll just go with the Savannah View then.
Thanks!!
AKV is a 60/40 split. There are 5 2br lockoffs on the 6th floor that make up the sum total of the villas concierge rooms. 3 of the 2BR lockoffs face the Sunset Savannah, 2 face the pool.
AKL concierge, however, is 100% Savannah view now. For awhile, there were some smoking designated standard concierge rooms that were pool view, but with the change in smoking policy, they swapped around inventory and ALL the rooms are savannah view.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought all the rooms on the 5th and 6th floors were DVC.I would appreciate it if you could explain to me (very slowly
) where the concierge rooms are located. My kids would love to stay at AKL.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not but...
It's more than just extra snacks. You get access to a first class (IMHO, best on property) IPO staff to make your ADR's, get you Cirque tickets, plan any "special" things (cruises, etc) you want and put together your own personal itinerary for you. You also get use of the lounge (the snack you mentioned) and turndown service. But MOST importantly, you get a crack at booking the sunrise safari at AK. Just that one option is, IMHO, ALMOST worth the extra $$...and along with the other things you get make sit a pretty decent deal.
I was kidding, but I really didn't want to spend the money if I didn't have a view of the animals. Actually, I don't care but DH and my kids would be disappointed. I really like the idea of having a "private" area to enjoy a snack or drink. I know they said that concierge includes snacks but I read somewhere (can't recall where) that they have hot foods. Does anyone know what this entails. I was seriously considering going without the dining plan next time and trying to determine if it's worth it. I think in the interim, I'm going to do a search on what exactly is included in the concierge price. I looked at the GF and it was almost 10K so I figure they must include something good.

The food isn't really a meal replacement other than b'fast for us since all we need is bagels, fruit, cereal, etc. But, having the dining plan and CL is overkill - the evening foods are a great appetizer and can be a meal if you don't eat much. Yes, they have hot food. And, yes, they have wine in the evening and cordials and desserts later. It really depends on how much time you plan to spend at the resort. We don't do CL for the food offerings other than b'fast; we do it for the best IPO staff at WDW and the sunrise safari. The food however is very good. My DD and I are doing a quicky trip in November with an AP rate. I'm already thinking I will miss the CL and our b'fasts.
Thank you. One more question: where is the CL located? Is it still on the 6th floor? If that's the case, I'm not sure how I'd feel about staying on th 4th floor and having to schlep up to the 6th floor to use the lounge. You got it right.
AKV (which is the Animal Kingdom Villas....the DVC part of the resort) has a 60/40 split in concierge room views. They're all on the 6th floor. AKV is the first DVC resort to offer concierge DVC room types.
AKL's (which is the Animal Kingdom Lodge....the hotel part of the resort) concierge rooms are 100% savannah view. All those rooms are on the 4th floor. I THINK they're all close to the lobby, overlooking the Arusha savannah, but I'm not entirely sure.

Yes, the lounge is still on 6.
However, something to keep in mind: prior to the DVC conversion, MOST of the concierge rooms were actually on 5, anyway..with just a handful on 6. So it was likely you were going to have to take the elevator up to 6 anyway...you just have to ride one more floor up.
Like I said, I think the standard concierge rooms are close to the lobby, overlooking Arusha savannah...so that's going to mean they're in relatively proximity to the elevator banks, too. Someone who's stayed in those rooms (my experience with concierge was in a 5th floor deluxe concierge room...not one of the new standards on the 4th floor) can probably answer better, but I wouldn't think it's much of a hassle. We didn't find it too cumbersome to use the lounge when we were on 5.

Thanks for clarifying all this. I actually booked a standard concierge room for Feb. I've never stayed at this level before because I'm super frugal, but my husband wanted to splurge (we very rarely do this). I'm so excited to do it!! I wish they had a list of exactly what's included in the concierge price. I've looked everywhere. Even the Disney CM only gave me a general description. Either way, I think it's going to be worth it!!
