How are the views with AKL Kidani standard view? We are hoping to book 4 nights there in April. Tuesday is our 7 month mark. I am hopeful because we were able to get 3 nights at BLT lake view for the first three nights. I'd like to save some points here in case we want to use them in 2013. I know I've read some people get standard view and luck out and see animals anyway. Would it help if I request close to the lobby? I know requests aren't guaranteed.

We stayed in Kidani in Aug and also 2 yrs ago when they opened. Both times we had a standard view and did not make any room requests.

this year our room was ready when we checked in at 11 am. We we on the 2nd level which is also the level the lobby is on. We were just past the first set of elevators to the right of the lobby. Timon section was where we parked. We were only 2 doors down from where we stayed 2 yrs earlier. Out our balcony was a parking lot -- staff I believe bc it was gate controlled and not many cars or people coming and going. We were near the bus stop. The noise of the bus did not bother us. Occasionally at night we could hear the beeping of the bus but it was faint and again didn't bother us.

For our family AKV standard is a few points cheaper than at OKW for beg of August. We seem to alternate btwn both resorts. We find plenty of places to check out the animals

If you are there at night go down to the fire pit. The CM usually has night vision goggles to use on the savannah. It is really cool to see them at night

We have never made a room request and always gotten a good room at either AKV and OKW

I did see another thread where someone had a 1BR standard at Kidani...Pumba Section Room 7757 (she thinks) and that had a great view of a 'corner' of the savannah and saw a number of animals. Doesn't hurt to try and be that specific with a request! i'm going to try it. :thumbsup2

We stayed in a standard view studio at Kidani with a parking lot view and it was fine for us. There were plenty of other places where we were able to see the animals. We had tried to get a savannah view, but there wasn't one available In the end we felt that we were very satisfied with stay.

Just returned from a Standard 1BR Rm 7839 - 4th floor. Turned out to be a surprise Savannah view! We parked in the Rafiki section.

Our balconies were entirely on the savannah and so was room 7837! Never saw giraffe or zebra but did see warthogs, okapi, antelope and vultures. Also had a slight view of the pool.

We were seriously thrilled with the room (felt humongous) and the view!

We stayed in two 2 bedroom Standard View Villas at Kidani in April. They were on the 4th floor and thought the view was technically of a parking lot if you looked straight down, there were a lot of trees and vegetation right past the parking lot which was mostly what we saw when looking out from that high up. I expected a really ugly parking lot view and was pleasantly surprised.

GONZALJ1 was on the Pembe Savanna. This is the one with no giraffes and zebras.

Another way to save points is to book value rooms at Jambo. They are 3 feet shorter than the regular rooms, have only two baths in the 2 br, but have a 45% chance of savanna, 45% chance of pool view, and 10% chance of parking lot view.

We were in room 7739 on our Aug trip and had the same view & parked in the same area. It was a great location & view! The best was how close we were to the pool! I was so happy when I saw the view we had & my kids were happy with the animals we saw. It was our first time with a standard view there & I was nervous we would get a bad view. I am so glad we saved our points & didn't book the savanah view.

I just booked a standard view 1 bedroom at Kidani for DS's family for this Saturday. I'll be stopping by to visit (I'm at the BCV, no room there on such short notice) and I'm interested in seeing what sort of view they will have.

We have also stayed on the Pembe Savannah in a standard studio as well as a standard dedicated 2 bdrm. They have an awesome view of animals - just no zebras or giraffes so they can't technically call them savannah view rooms. We also had a studio in that area on the top floor and could see the MK fireworks in the distance from our room - what an added bonus!!! I have the room numbers in my disney planner - pm me if you want more info!

Loved our standard view studio - room 7707. It faced the driveway in front of the hotel but the location was great near thr elevators and lobby. I saw plenty of animals at kidani. I found the early evening viewing in thr main area to be fantastic. We took standard because it waa all there was but it turned out great. For a resort with so many activities and amenities it was a points bargain.

I stayed in a standard at kidani back in february. If you are walking in the front door and looking at the back of the lobby, we were to the left of the lobby, 2nd floor and not far from the lobby. We were close to a corner and overlooking the back of the pool. It wasn't a bad view at all and we spent alot of time hanging out on the balcony in the mornings. I prefer a savannah view when I'm there, but it's worth the standard to save the points sometimes, as there are lots of viewing areas off the lobby to see the animals.

It's a gorgeous resort and I am very much looking forward to returning :)

Happy planning,

does anyone that has stayed at both Kidani and Jambo house prefer one over the other?

We had a standard view dedicated 2br this Aug. 3rd floor, #7735. Beautiful full length balcony, overlooking the Pembe Savannah to the right and the pool to the left (could not see it or the people because of the trees. We saw Okapies, Gazelles (?), impalas, guinea fowls, some sort of hog, can't remember the name(?), birds (many kinds). For standard view points we were tickled pink!

and I have to say, that master bath, it's outstanding. The only thing missing is the opening music from the Lion King when you flick the light on!

I prefer Jambo for studios, the Mara is close by and I prefer the way the studios are layed out. For 1-2 bedrooms, unless I need to conserve points, I book Kidani because of the extra bathrooms.

I don't have enough AKV points to get a GV at 11 months, but if I ever could get one at 7 months, I would prefer Jambo, because of the pool table. My family would love to stay there sometime.

I think that villas on the Pembe savannah are listed as savannah views, aren't they? There may be a few at the end that are standard, but are all Pembe view villas listed as standard?

No, not all Pembe savannah view villas are listed as standard. We booked a 2 bedroom savannah view villa, and they tried to give us a villa on the Pembe savannah. I politely, told the CM "no thanks - we came here to see giraffes and zebras." They found us another villa. I even called member services about this - you should be told upfront if you have the sunset or the pembe savannah when booking. I will gladly use extra points for the sunset savannah, but not the pembe savannah.

If they are giving out pembe savannah views for standard points, I would be very upset if I used more points for a savannah view, and got the same view as people paying for a standard view.

I'm not the OP but wanted to say thanks for all the great info! We're staying at Kidani for the first time in October. (40 days!!) We're in a standard view studio.

Thanks again!!

We were in a standard view studio at Kidani in April and were on the edge of the Savannah. The fence was just to the left of us. It was a special treat to see few animals since we were not expecting that at all with a standard view.
We were by the Rafiki elevator.

We had a standard view looking down towards the bus stop. It was just past laundry and Community Hall off the lobby. I think about the 2nd or 3 rd room down the hall. Very close to lobby/bus stop and pool.

We've just bought into the DVC for AKL (fingers crossed!!) via resale and are waiting on ROFR with Disney!

We're looking to stay at the AKL this Spring and was wondering if your room was a 1bdr? I'd def be wanting to get great results on the standard room too and would request this # if it is what we wanted! Thanks!:)
