AKL Kidani New Year's Eve?

Anyone stayed at AKL over the week between Christmas and New Year's? Is there anything special that happens at the resort on NYE? We are trying to decide whether to stay at the resort for dinner and activities with the kids on NYE, to brave one of the parks - either HS or Epcot, no MK for us- or to try for an evening at one of the resorts closer to a park like dinner and activities at the Boardwalk or Poly. Any tips from veterans or suugestions appreciated!

The night activities at AKL on NYE are mainly at Jambo where they have a band in the lobby. NYE at Epcot, which we have done, is the best for activities including at the various nations but the crowd almost prevents you from getting to them (think wall to wall people on the walkways). We have also done MK on NYE and the crowd at MK that night is the worst for the entire week.
