AKL -Kidani check in day help

We are staying two days at Kidani and then moving over to Jambo to a grand villa. Need help with scheduling first day. WE are from California so it will feel much earlier to us. Any advice helpful. We have no tickets the first day and I think we will get to hotel at 5:45pm. Thinking of going to the pool and eating there. How late does the pool on Kidani side stay open? Is there food at the pool. Suggestions to eating and going in the pool first day. Help

The Maji Pool Bar is open daily until 9 pm. The menu at disneyworld.com is not working right now, but here's a link to one at allears.net (as of 11/2016): http://allears.net/dining/menu/maji-pool-bar/all-day

Jambo is a 10 minute walk or shuttle if you want to eat there.
