Loved AKL - hated the weather, that basically summed up last week. It rained every day and not just showers but heavy rain for long hours at a time.
A couple of things about AKL - I had requested a room on Zebra trail overlooking the Arushu Savannah. When we arrived we were given a room on the Kudu trail overlooking one of the people holding pens on the middle savannah (don't know name). View was terrible. I immediately went up to front desk and asked for change. No problem at all. They kept us on Kudu trail but moved us to Arushu Savannah. In fact we were the first room on the 4th floor. Very convenient. One thing about AKL - location is everything. You can really walk yourself to death over a week if you have one of the rooms at the end of the trail. We saw all kinds of animals during the week right outside our balcony. In fact there were a flock of pelicans who were are neighbors for the entire week. A couple more tips - there was a refridgerator in our room when we got there. I assumed it just came with the room. We didn't request it, nor need it. When we got our bill there was a $10/night charge for it. I went to front desk and they removed the charges. They did say "for future reference" if you don't want the refridgerator, ask to have it removed.
Ate at Boma's and was a little disappointed. Food was a little too "exotic" for our tastes (which says something about us I guess). Mara was very good though and the prices are not bad at all. Two best meals we had all week was Wolgang Puck's and San Angel Inn.
Crowds were not bad at all last week. But we didn't get to do quite a few things we wanted to because of the rain. Guess that mean's its time to start planning the next trip. If anyone has any questions, I'll be glad to answer them.
PS - One last thing, the CM's hanging around the viewing areas are great and love to talk about the animals. My wife and daughter spent alot of time talking to them and learned all kinds of interesting stuff about the resort and the animals.
