We are planning to stay at AKL next June for a couple of nights. Right now I have a ressie with Disney but was wondering if the AAA rates are better. We are not AAA members now but will join if its worth it.

Thanks for any help!

Jen

I am staying at AKL in October. June and October are regular season rates. The only available discount I could find for that time because I made reservations a month and a half pior, was AAA. I'm paying approximately $280/night for savannah view. The regular rate is $315. I believe you can go to AAA.com and search for a hotel and rates without punching in a membership #. I reserved this rate directly through Disney but you can also do it on the AAA website.

Do you need to have your AAA membership number to make the reservation through Disney or can you make the reservation with the AAA rate and sign up for membership sometime prior to your arrival?

Thanks.

I think the AAA rates for deluxe resorts are currently running at a 15% discount, plus 11.5% room tax. The rack rates on the WDW website don't ever show the AAA discount and don't include tax. Savannah view for regular season is $351.23/night with tax, the same room using the AAA discount is $298.54/night with tax.

When we reserved for the Poly last year they didn't need the AAA card until we checked in (good thing too, because we didn't get our AAA cards until the week prior  ). But they wanted my AAA card number this time when we booked AKL -- and again when we decided to split the week between AKL and GF.

Remember, they only allow a certain number of AAA rooms in each room category. If you wait too long you may find that the AAA rate rooms you want have been snapped up. Also you are right that at certain seasons AAA is the only discount, those AAA go even faster than normal.

Thanks!

Looks like I better hurry up and join AAA and hopefully get the discounted rates

Aloha,
Jen

While waiting for the AP rates.... and then finding out that they were starting again in October... ...we decided to search for AAA rates for our trip at the end of this month.

We have three nights at AKL Savanna view for a total of $260 per night (Normally - $343 with tax) and four nights at GF Lagoon View at $379 per night (Normally - $501 with tax) A Total savings of $737!

We already were AAA members.....however, if we had not been it would have been more than beneficial for us to join!

Good Luck!

I got the AAA discount through Disney over the phone- not Disney's website and they wanted my AAA # when I made the reservation. However, you can check out price and availability on the AAA website without punching in a membership #.

We have the *exact* same reservations and prices! $260.63 AKL deposit for Savannah view for 3 nights, and $379.10 GF deposit for Lagoon view for 4 nights. And right before Value season ends. :)

Have you figured out the logistics of moving luggage and checking out/in? Just curious. We were planning on using a cab to move our stuff between resorts, but we thought we would ask AKL bell services first. If I can work out this one little detail then we will be able to take a towncar to/from the airport, and won't have to rent a car (saving even more) plus I won't have to drive for a week!

I just hope if I check the luggage in early at GF bellhop svcs that they don't automatically check us out of AKL until the family is ready...
