I am looking for some input on which GV in the Jambo house has the best views for animals. I think I want to stay away from the very end of the "horseshoe" as they back up fairly close to the fence. Would appreciate any thoughts. ( I tried to copy and paste Lisa's AKV resort layout map but couldn't get it to work)

Thanks

We were at the end of the horseshoe and had a great view. We had a 180 view and thought it was great.

You may not like the end, but quite often that's where the animals hang out.
I think it's a bit more shady and quiet there. When the lodge first opened the CMs told us to go to the fire escapes at the ends to see the animals.

I agree with MG. The animals often hang out at the back of the savannas. In addition to the shade, they seem to like to visit the animals on the neighboring savanna so they meet up at the fence that separates the two. When we took the Wanyama Safari, one of the guides pointed out how one of the female giraffes was flirting with one of the males on the adjacent savanna.

We stayed in the H/C GV which is the first GV on the 5th floor. I have great photos that I took of our view but I can never figure out how to post them:rotfl:. We saw the Zebra and plenty of giraffes. The room was great as we could hop on the elevator and we were right by the exact to the pool and more importantly the pool bar. Loved that orange cremesicle drink. We would then just be a short walk to Mara. We could go out on our patio from early morning to late evening and just about always see the animals. Susan

We also stayed at the end of the horseshoe, in a standard . . . and we never had a minute without an animal outside the window. It was such a nice surprise as I didn't know what to expect -- a standard can also mean a view of a parking lot or roof.

This was not an upgraded room.

So, I guess my point is that if we were happy in a standard at the end of the shoe, than a savannah would probably be wonderful.

Only drawback is that being at the end sometimes felt like a very long walk at the end of a very long day. That said, I'd do it again.

Hope this helps a little.

If you were at one of the ends of the horseshoe then you were in a Savanna View room. The Standard View rooms in Jambo House face the pool area. If you are talking about AKL rather than AKV, then yes the Standard View rooms at AKL face the parking lot. In AKV, only Jambo's Value rooms face the parking lot. Confusing!
