Are the 1BR values in a poor location? I've been searching charts and threads but am confused. Are they only in the front - do they overlook the parking /bus area? TIA!

The Value 1-Bedrooms at Jambo House are located either in Ostrich Trail or Giraffe Trail (see red).

But, within each of those sections, some of the Value 1BRs face into a savannah. Others face the parking lot. As seen here highlighted in red:

I found this info on http://touringplans.com/hotel_maps/disneys-animal-kingdom-lodge

And the ones in the Giraffe Trail are considered pool view. The ones closest to the lobby are more Boma roof-top view with a pool view if you look to the right. We have stayed in values on three different occasions and gotten pool view all three times.

Also see this map http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5-large.html Values are on Ostrich and Giraffe Trails and the ten 1BRs, all of which are part of 2BR lock-offs, are shown in blue. Only two face the parking lot, which is actually mostly a tree and bush view, and the rest the savanna (Ostrich) or the pool (Giraffe)

We have had the parking lot view. But, as previously posted, it was blocked by lots of vegetation so it wasn't bad at all. For the points those rooms cost, I will take my chances!

Thanks for the help- are there categories of 1BR values? Like pool view or savannah? Like the other rooms?

Isn't that strange? For other room, you choose whether or not you have a savannah view or not, etc. and points vary accordingly. But thanks for the info!

My guess is it would add too many booking options for a very limited subset of rooms to begin with, and a pool or parking lot is still not a Savannah.

It's not that strange really since there aren't that many rooms. Concierge does not have booking categories either. Reality is that AKV doesn't need any more booking categories - there are plenty already! Even standard views have some that are pool view and partial savannah views at Jambo and both of those plus parking lot at Kidani.

The values are more about the size of the rooms, which are a little smaller, than about the views.

So is it ever a good idea to go with Deluxe studio standard view as opposed to a value studio? We had giraffes and zebras off our balcony when we were in a value studio. The kids would hate not seeing any animals.

The only category that guarantees a savannah view is savannah view. For all value, standard and concierge it's just a request or luck of the draw.

I was looking at the value rooms too, wondering what actually made them value apart from the size being smaller and small bathroom. They seem like great value especially the 1 bedrooms with the whole kitchen and all.

the value villas are a great deal - but there are only 10 2BR value lockoffs, so that would mean 10 or fewer 1BRs for booking. so they can be tougher than standard 1BRs to book.

like KAT said, you book values for the lower point costs. if you will disappointed to not get a savanna view, then book the savanna view...

The bathrooms in the Value rooms are the same size as the bathrooms in the other booking categories in Jambo House. The size difference in the Value 1BRs is in the living area and the master bedroom. In the Value studios, it is the living/sleeping area that is smaller. Overall, these rooms are about 3 feet shorter than the non-Value rooms in Jambo House and the balconies are not as deep.

The Value studios are missing the storage bench (not enough room for it) so there isn't as much storage space in the room.

As usual, here's my 1BR Value video from a few years back:
We LOVE the values. I'm almost hitting 100% on booking them when we want out AKL fix, and getting a Savannah the majority of the time. We even were able to get a value 1BR over our Canadian March/Spring break this year. Persistence is key. :)

To emphasize what Lisa said, there are a VERY SMALL number of these rooms. You pretty much need to own at the resort and call at eleven months to stand a chance, and even then, these are some of the most wanted rooms in Disney. You might get lucky and something might open up if you don't have home resort advantage, but you'd have to get really lucky. If you are thinking about renting, it would be nearly impossible to get these rooms as a rental.
