AKL Info??

Hi Everyone!! I have been a user for many months now but this is my 1st post and would greatly appreciate everyones response. My daughters (12 and 10) and I will be at AKL - Savannah View for a week in March. I have all our PS done and have a tentative schedule for the week with some downtime at the hotel. Can anyone tell me what I might be missing?? We are either taking a towncar or I might surprise my DD's w/ a limo, can't decide on that. I just really want to be prepared before we get there and I feel like I might be missing something. We have been to WDW before but stayed Offsite.....Hubby will not be w/ us he is working in Iraq and he didn't really enjoy the 1st trip so this is the perfect opportunity for just us girls. *(By the way I got a great deal with an email code!)

Welcome to the DIS! Glad to see another Texan on the boards. Have you thought about these things?

-Cirque Du Soliel at Downtown Disney

-Disney mini golf

-Disney water park

-Character meals

-Disney's Boardwalk

-Disney Quest

-A "Behind the Scenes" Tour (I believe there are some at AKL. ???)

I'm sure there are more. That's all I can think of now.

Your DH didn't enjoy the first trip??? (sorry, that sentence stuck out as one of those "how could anyone not enjoy being there!").

Anyway.. Got your tickets for the parks yet? AKL is great.. it's my favorite. I havent done a Savannah room yet, but my brother's family has and they loved it.

I'm more of an easy going type so I will make my basic plans and take the rest as it comes. I do try to get what park I go to based on the early opening for park guests days, so if you want to do that I would adjust the schedule accordingly.

That hotel always makes me feel so relaxed. I can stare at the animals all day long. Enjoy the animal viewing and take lots of pictures!!

I don't think I gave any hotel info help, but I had to put in my 2 cents anyway.

When we stay at AKL..we just enjoy the down time and hanging out at the lodge. The lobby is like a small museum of african art.

Looking through the night vision goggles out over the savannah at night (just find the castmember who has them..usually where the short line of people are).

The pool is excellent..and you and the girls can have drinks while you are out there. They have great na drinks for the kids.

Hello. Welcome to the boards. We are from Texas too and we will also be at the AKL at the same time you are. We arrive on March 4. My friend and I are taking our children by ourselves without our husbands because they both have to work. The children are 2 girls ages 3 and 6 and one boy age 7. I just arranged for a towncar to pick us up. (Actually he is picking us up in a limo because there are 5 of us but he is only charging us the town car rate ). The kiddos don't know that they are going yet. Maybe we will se you there.

We will arrive on March 7th and are staying till the 13th.....Thanks to everyone on these boards I have learned alot about AKL!! I didn't know that had so much at the lodge itself until I read it here!!!! (Thanks to everyone!)
We are doing DisneyQuest, the Boardwalk and Blizzard Beach along w/ all 4 parks and I have scheduled us according to early/late entry!! I guess I am just so excited!!! My DD's do not know that we have a Savannah View (and we are animal crazy - 1 DD wantd to be a vet and the other wants to be a zookeeper!) I think I will schedule a limo and surprise them w/ that also!!!! I Can't Wait!!!!!

Disdazed, May I ask what towncar service you decided to use? I have never used one and that is my last decision to make, until I start packing. I know this is a transportation question and I apologize....

I am using Golden Limo this time. We have also used Tiffany Town Car and Premiere Town Car. Premiere has a rate of $80 rt from the airport to akl. Because we have 5 on this trip instead of the usual 4 we had to have a limo instead of a town car so that is why I am using Golden Limo this time. (The rate for the town car with Golden is $95). Hope that helps.
