AKL for Dec?

We were originally booked for WL for our Dec 1-5 trip, but our TA could not get AP rates so she booked us at AKL. We have not stayed at either resort. We booked WL as I heard it was decked out for the holidays nicely. How about AKL? Should I stay AKL or change back to WL at rack rate? The AP price for AKL is a little over half of what I would pay for WL.

I will be in your same shoes if I can't get a general discount code. I have WL booked at rack rates as well. And like you really want to stay at WL. But I have to say if I can get a could rate at AK that is where I will stay too. I'll just go to WL to have dinner and check out the decorations when I go for a visit. Maybe you should do the same. It just depends on whether you want to save that money and maybe use it somewhere else. Good luck in your decision. I may be there with you tomorrow.

I know this is not the most popular answer but we hated Wl. We stayed the first week of Dec at Wl had woods view and would never go back again. Don't get me wrong its a stunning hotel around the holidays and worth the trip over to see the decorations but if you are not almost getting the room for next to free book another hotel. ( Once agin this post expresses the thoughts of the Perry family only and should not reflect poorly on the rest of the sight )

We have stayed at both resorts one trip at christmas we spent 7 days at AKL then continued our trip with another 7 days at WL. The AKL had a huge tree in the lobby and some nice christmas decorations that fit with the AKL theme.

Giraffes are my sons favorite animal, so for him being able to walk out on our balcony to see them was just the coolest thing for him. It was a beautiful resort and I would definately stay there again if the price is right, but I wouldn't go out of my way or price range. Being that it was december we had some pretty cold days one day the temperature was 38º. We live in South FL so we were a bit cold.

for the holidays but in an untraditional way. They do have a massive tree but all of the decorations throughout the lodge are African inspired and very beautiful. Its is a great change and something that should not be missed. The AKL is a great place to stay, especially if you have any kids. Boma is an excellent place to eat and get the flavor of Africa.
