I'm training for the F&W 1/2 marathon in Oct. I will be heading to AKV in Aug and I'm wondering if there are any running/fitness trails near the resort? I know SSR and OKW have them but not sure about AKV? I'm going to need to keep up with my training while I'm there so wondering what my options are for an EARLY morning run.
Thanks!

Sorry, the only place to run at AKL/AKV is on the treadmill. Or you could run past the guests walking between Jambo and Kidani on that sidewalk - about 1/2 mile long. Or head to another resort - FW is pretty good for running.

Saw a guy jogging at Jambo in May. He was running between the valet area where you leave your car to check in and the parking lots. We all thought he must be pretty desperate for a run to be running where he was.

No running area except possibly back and forth between resorts and around parking lot at Jambo. Savannas occupy more than 75% of all the land there and you cannot even exit the buildings except in the front parts, to the pools, or to viewing areas

When we left Kidani to go off property, we turned right onto Sherberth Rd. We did see someone running there along side the road, but there were no sidewalks!:scared1: But if you desperately need a run outside, I totally understand.

And, therein lies the danger.

I always use the sidewalk path between Jambo and Kidani lobbys, 1 whole lap is about a mile, maybe not quite.

You could always run from one end of Kidani to the other via a hallway and back but you'd be over-training. :rotfl2:

If you're training for a Half, you need more than a mile or two for your long run of the week -- at least a nice relaxing 10-miler or more.

I'd look for routes on Google Earth or one of the running sites. Roads without sidewalks are fine, but roadways within WDW are not -- too many tourists driving with no idea where they are going and not enough concentration on the road!

We were just at AKV last week. My son runs cross country and wanted to keep up with his training while we were there. The CM suggested the path between Jambo House and Kadani Village. He found it pretty boring. We took over to the Boardwalk a couple of mornings and he ran from the BW around the lake and to DHS a couple times.

Thanks so much for all the replies/suggestions and links!! Hmom03~I think I might just do that! I was thinking of taking a cab there in the early am then taking the bus back from DHS.
