Getting ready to leave 9/8, and i'm looking for updates from people who have just returned. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

don't have one. but so far no one who has stayed there is complaining loudly.

I am going on the 16th - so if you are back I would appreciate a report!!!:thumbsup2

Hey Bob,

Could you do it early? We leave on the 15th! Heading to Hartford at 1500 to spend the night there. Flight leaves at 0700 on the 16th. We'll be at AKL on the 16th, so I'll see you there Pat! Hope you all have great trips!

i just talked to my step-sil who is a concierge at akl, the lounge is back on the 6th floor, which is a hard hat area. construction is progressing at a faster than anticipated pace, but can be heard during the day, mostly affecting those that hang around the resort. the animals have been moved from the sunset savannah, due to fast pace of kidani construction. there are plenty of animals in other areas that are not paying attention to construction at all.

?? That doesn't mean that concierge guest have to wear hard hats to go to the lounge right??

I was there last week, and really didnt find it to be a problem at all. Aside from a black curtain on the top floor, and the occasional sound of a saw during the day at the pool, had I not known what was going on I may not have thought otherwise. The DVC portion is pretty well separated from the main resort, and I didnt even think to look for it until our last day.

Just my opinion, but it wasnt a problem for us at all....

This is different from other info I read here. I had heard that all concierge rooms were now on 4th floor due to the conversion of 5th & 6th floors to DVC. How can the lounge be on the 6th floor?

We are looking to book AKL concierge for August 08, but I am trying to get a handle on location of rooms and views after the conversion of top two floors to DVC.

I was told we would have to take the elevator to the 6th floor to get to the lounge. We are going in October. I hope the conctruction isn't too much of a problem.

that must mean that concierge non-villas is on 4 and the construction area on 6 is for concierge villas. but yes the lounge is back in its original home on 6, shelly, she didn't specify if hard hats were required for visits though.:rotfl2: it would be a site to see everyone withtheir nightcaps and hard hats.

The lounge has always been on the 6th floor with concierge rooms on the 6th and 5th floors you just took the elevator up to the sixth. It was key card protected. So now you just take the elevator up from your room on the 4th not a big differance.

Thanks for the info - never stayed concierge before. I just assumed (wrongly) that the lounge would be moved closer when they did the construction. It just seemed strange to leave it in the middle of the DVC villas - but it really isn't a big deal.

The villas on the 6th floor are Concierge villas - a new thing for Disney. So, the rooms on 6 will continue to have access to the CL as will the CL rooms on the 4th floor and any of the pre-DVC AKL suites to the extent they still exist.

dw talked to her dd two nights ago and her step sis has arranged for us to get a room that hasn't been used. we'll get to break the seal:banana: , that is so cool. i'll report back when we get home. it won't help you bmoc, since we'll be there at the same time.

i'll put on my asbestos vest and report that she told me to bring our old drink mugs for use while we're there, she has seen all manner of old and weird mugs being used, and nobody official gives it a second thought. we might buy one of the new mugs for a souvenir, but we'll be using our mara and animal kingdom mugs as well.

I was a refugee "forced" to stay at the Poly 08/15 to 08/19.:rotfl: We did visit to dine at Boma's (didn't like it, one of the least favorite meals this trip). We did spend some time touring the facility, it is nice and we did see animals. When we were sitting in the lounge, I can't remember the name it might be Victoria Falls lounge or something like that, we did hear the construction. I told the bartender about us being moved and he said that we were the lucky ones. The noise I was hearing was nothing compared to what can be heard sometimes. They are rushing though to get the job done. He says it gets very loud and he is a few floors beneath the construction. Hope everyone has a great trip.

I'm a DVC member and I made reservations for Spring Break at AKV and when I made them I was told to be aware that construction might impact my stay, now this is for next March! So who knows what's going on.....

yes, were were there last week. I wrote a long review. Just search under my name.

Spicey and others.. I was there last week.. staying in the 2nd to last room before the black curtain draping the construction. i spent 3 days exclusively at the resort.
Noise was not a factor nor a problem.

only one morning I was annoyed at the banging I thought my neighbors were obnoxious till my 7 year old pointed out it was the construction.:rotfl:

I did bring a sound machine as always but as I said it was NOT a factor.

and spicey the DVC rooms were great everything I had hoped for.

I searched under Kimberle and wasn't able to find anything. i would love to read your trip report as I leave in a couple of weeks for AKL.
