AKL DVC 1 Bedrooms @ Jambo

I'm hoping that someone has information on the DVC 1 bedrooms at Jambo - I was trying to figure out how many and where they were located from the room tool on touringplans.com and I only find 13 standard view 1 bedrooms in the entire Jambo house side - are these allocated to DVC and normal hotel rental? How hard are these to book if there are only 13 available at any given time, anyone have experience? Also if anyone has an opinion with getting a 1 bedroom at Kidani working out better that would be helpful, my kids really want to be closer to the Kidani pool but I wanted to stay close to the Mara.

I am not sure about numbers but there are certainly more in Kidani. Also, the Kidani 1 bedrooms have two full baths which is really nice.

No, the kidani 1 bedrooms have an extra bathroom and just feel larger. We hated the layout of the jambo 1 bedrooms. The bathroom is one room and across the hall from the bedroom.

There are 34 DVC 1BR Standard View units at Jambo House. There are 33 Savannah View units. There are also 5 Club Level units, and 10 Value units. Every 1BR at Jambo is part of a 2BR lock-off, which is to say DVC owners can book them attached to a studio as a 2BR.

Because DVC owners own 95% or more of points at a DVC resort, the number of units available to book via cash is always limited in both number and dates available, since those units made available through cash reservations are based on the points controlled by Disney, which generally range from 2-5% as a base, with points they acquire through specific DVC trade operations supplementing.

All Jambo House DVC is on the 5th floor, save the Club units on 6.

Kidan’s floor plan is much better for us. That extra bathroom is a game changer! There is a shuttle that runs continuously between Jambo and Kidani. It is, literally, there every 5-6 minutes. The gift shop at Kidani has the beverage refill station and, I believe, the pool does also. Sanaa now does a QS breakfastthat is excellent. More importantly, you can get the bread service to go from the bar at Sanaa.

The Value villas are about three feet shorter in depth than the standard or savanna view villas. The furniture layout is different to adjust to the lack of space.

They vary in view and you get what you get. Some are savannah view.

They are basically impossible to secure on a rental.

I managed to book a 1 bedroom last week for September, just good timing and dumb luck. Just wondering what if anything I’m giving up. Now to decide if we want that value 1 bed for 5 nights or take a regular studio for 6 nights. Ah first world problems.

The 1BR Is a good bit smaller than the regular AKL room but only about 10% smaller than say Beach Club or Saratoga Springs 1BR. And it has a full size fridge and a stove. It’ll save you serious $$$ on food if you want it to.

DW and I are looking at a DVC points rental for our next trip, a one-bedroom suite at AKL (which is our way favourite resort). DW is quite insistent on having a walk-in shower rather than the typical shower-over-tub arrangement; would I be correct in thinking that we would need to look at the villas in Kidani? From what I’ve been able to make out the DVC villas in Jambo have the shower-over-tub arrangement.

Any guidance here would be appreciated. We’re not returning to WDW until late 2021 (it takes time to get the money together!) but I’m thinking we should start planning early...

I can verify that the Kidani 1BR has a separate tub and shower in the master bathroom. No idea about Jambo.

Make sure you refer to the rental as a villa and not a suite. They are two different things.
