AKL, CR or Dolphin and why

Myself (mom 41) and my dd (18 year old) will be going to WDW in August to relax and enjoy time together before she starts college. We have been to WDW many times and this trip is mainly to see the sights at a relaxed pace and enjoy time by the pool. Which resort would you choose and why? Thanks for the insight and help.

from your next visit to WDW and assuming that you have never been to the AKL, I would go with that. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Dolphin but if you want to relax, enjoy the pool, visit with one another before college, I think the AKL would be ideal. The Dolphin can get a bit loud and bee very active due to its size, location and the layout of the pool area. The AKL is a beautiful and unusal resort with great food and the animals!

I agree with the previous poster on AKL. It is so beautiful. This is our favorite resort.

Since you're planning on hanging out at the pool alot, I probably wouldn't recommend CR. Though it's a fav of mine, the pool area probably wouldn't "satisfy" adults.

The only downside at the AKL is that the pool gets very warm in the summer (I don't know about the Dolphin). We didn't even swim when we were there in August because the water was not at all refreshing.

I just got back from AKL and loved it! It seems to be fairly quiet and removed from the noise of the parks. I think that AKL is my favorite WDW resort for relaxing. It is so beautiful and there is so much to do. We spent hours wandering around watching the animals - and the rooms are beautiful if you plan on getting a savannah view and spending time on your balcony. The spa there is also wonderful! I had an aromatherapy massage and body wrap that was one of the best spa treatments I have ever had in my life.

On the other hand, at the Dolphin area you have a great pool (& more than one), multiple dining choices within walking distance, & the Boardwalk area for entertainment. Do you want to just relax OR some relaxing & some non-park action?
