We have recently booked 2 weeks in october stayingf one week in AKL.We have booked with the infamous TCD and have already upgraded oureroom through them to savannah view.

We have heard of the concierge rooms and wondered if they are worth the extra money?.

If they are how do we find the extra rate we need to pay and who do we contact as TCD dont or cant do that upgrade?

thanks nick n sara

Ive been told its MUCH cheaper to upgrade in resort. We are staying at AKL in OCT 05 and Virgin want £600 for the 14 days to upgrade to a Savannah room! Ive heard of several people who have upgraded when they get there either for free, or for around $30 a night (MUCH LESS than Virgin!!).

We are also thinking about concierge, possibly for our last week when we are staying at one of the monorail resorts.

I would only book one if I could get it at the right price. At the moment they work out about $100 per night more than a standard room. For this you get use of the concierge lounge, where "nibbles" and drinks are laid out during the day. You get use of the concierge service to book dinner reservations etc.

The main reason we were going to use it, was it would be somewhere for DH and I to go in the evenings...we have 2 small children and they will be asleep by 7pm, so we liked the sound of being able to have a "refuge" without being too far away.

Well I certainly thought that it was well worth the extra cost when we stayed last August. The AKL concierge is regarded by many as one of the best concierge services in all of WDW. However, I believe that the UK travel agent prices for upgrading are rather over-the-top. If you are planning to be out of the resort in the parks virtually all the time, and not having a "resort day" or spending much time at the resort, then I don't think it would be worth it.

The lounge at AKL is extremely spacious and there is an amazing coffee/cappucino machine. The snack selection was good, and don't forget that by staying concierge you gain access to reservations for the "Sunrise" and "Sunset" safari. We only did the "Sunrise" but it was excellent, and well worth the money.

If you are travelling in "peak" or "holiday" season it is very unlikely that an upgrade will be available, even if you are willing to pay. AKL concierge is popular! At other times, I would perhaps wait until arrival, as Allie suggested, and see what the can do when you check-in.

As for that question, I'm not sure. You can try calling Disney's CRO, but I doubt they will be able to help you as the booking was made through TCD. They would be your best bet to find out how to upgrade, though. Are you sure TCD can't do it? Because if they can't I'm not sure who will be able to for you.

thanks frances

I think we will upgrade to conceriege level rooms. We are not as young as we used to be so we will definately be looking for some resort time!!!!!!.
