I was thinking about booking a concierge room at AKL. I notice the room options come up as pool/savannah view. Are there really concierge rooms that overlook the pool? I would hate to pay all that money and not have a room overlooking the savannah. Is it impossible to be guaranteed the savannah view?

No, they do not guarantee a savannah view if you book concierge- you can always "request" it, but it's not guaranteed. I imagine that it's close to a 50% shot at getting your view, but I don't know for certain. Jill

Even though we enjoy staying concierge, we did not book a concierge room for our last visit at AKL for the very reason that they could not guarantee us a savannah view. Although the pool area is lovely, we were there to see the animals! Instead, we booked a deluxe savannah room. This room is a little larger than the standard rooms at AKL, and we did not feel as cramped. We had a magnificent view on the fifth floor overlooking Arusha savannah.

I certainly understand your concern - that is why on our first AKL stay we waited to upgrade to concierge at check-in. However, we learned that the ONLY concierge rooms without the savannah view are 6 (or fewer) on the 6th floor that are smoking optional.

The problem we had with waiting to upgrade at check-in was that the Sunrise Safari was FULL (as was the wait list).

We've booked concierge since then without the fear of the pool view. (Some love those rooms besause they are SO close to the concierge lounge).

Good Luck!

We've stayed AKL concierge and to be honest, if we return, we are going to skip concierge and go to a lower floor. It appears that the lower you are, the better the view. The higher you go, the more tree tops you look at. Just a thought. Plus, I didn't think the offerings in the lounge were that great. I think the Polynesian concierge lounge blows away AKL. Just my 2 cents.

If you did book concierge and by some chance got a "pool view' room, you could always try to get a room on a lower floor, 2-4 and have concierge access through your room key. The downside is that the room would be smaller.

Thanks for the info. We're just going to book a Deluxe Savanna view room.

I was told that parties of 5 have a much better chance of a
savannah view(especially if you ask for a bunkbed), because
most of all of those units face the savannah. I didn't know
how many that you have in your party, but it's just a thought!
We had 5 and just got back from a beautiful savannah view(concierge). We loved concierge and we felt that AKL's concierge
was way better than Poly's concierge( we split our stay)! We loved the Sunrise Safari and would stay concierge just for that!! You'll have a good time no matter what you do!!
