AKL Concierge

I'm new to concierge and making the jump for 4 nites. I was wondering if there a good link to info in regards to concierge? Do you requests room types (savannah, queen beds etc) thru them or does that still go to the room assignor? Can you request items (like a safari mickey and minnie) thru them for the room? Thanks again!!!

The concierge staff will send you an info pack as soon as your reservation is put into the system...it is usually mailed within 72 hours of the time you make your reservation. The form that you fill out and return has places to request PS for meals, golf and recreation times, reservations for the Sunrise Safari, etc, child care and probably other stuff I have forgotten. There is also a place to let them know if you are celebrating any special occasions (BD's anniversary, etc)...there is NOT a specific place on the form to request a specific type/view of room. We have stayed there twice in the past and have another stay booked for Nov. and all 3 times I have just attached a note with our room preference on it and we have always gotten what we asked for...just lucky I guess... It is a WONDERFUL place to stay. Have fun

I am staying at AKL concierge soon as well. I have not received a packet and don't expect to, just because an itinerary planner called me and went over my requests with me at that time...he also asked me how we'd be arriving and at what time and the names of everyone in my party. He asked if there were any PS I wanted. Even offered to try for CRT since he noticed I had a 7-year-old "princess". I asked for their email address at that time and I have now sent 2 emails to them with my requests for additional PS (they got me Cali Grill) and gifts for my family I'd like to have in the room. Getting in touch with them by phone has been difficult for me, although I've only done this twice. I called this evening and left a message that I was emailing them all my requests. You can DEFINITELY make requests for gifts, etc., they'll just need a credit card #. Also, the itinerary planner who called me to make the initial contact, went over my room requests again, so this is within their bounds as well.

Mep319, I don’t know of a specific thread that will answer your concierge questions. Perhaps you should just do a blanket search here on the Dis based on the word “concierge” – be prepared for lots of threads to pop up.

Regardless of whether or not I’m staying in a concierge room, I make my room requests at the time that I book my reservation. Once my request is in the Disney reservation system, I try not to fret about it (I’m too busy fretting about everything else). You can certainly relay your request to the concierge; I’m sure they will try to make sure that your request gets honored (but remember, it is only a request).

When I have asked the concierge to do something special for me, they have always asked for my credit card information, and I have always given it to them. I have not asked for toys waiting in my room, but I know that other folks have. Since you already know that you would like a Safari Mickey and Minnie in your room, ask them if they could do this for you (and make sure to give them your credit card information). At best, they can; at worst, you will have to pick it up yourself in the gift shop (the AKL has a great gift shop).

There are lots of special things that the concierge can arrange for you. I know that on one of my past vacations, I was planning a special dinner along the shores of the Grand Floridian. I asked for a list of menu selections and prices. It was FAXed to me shortly after my request. Right now I am toying with the idea of planning something special for my upcoming vacation. If I decide to go through with it, I will definitely ask the concierge to help me arrange it. If I decide not to go through with it (it might be too costly for my tastes), I will probably ask the concierge to suggest some other fun things to do instead. They usually can suggest some really wonderful things (and some things that I have not thought of before).

Now that I have said all that, in my humble opinion, the AKL has the best concierge staff on property. Please relay your room view request to them and don’t forget to ask them to make any Priority Seating reservations for you. Have a magical vacation.

I am new to this as well, Stayed at AKL a few times but never concierge..I am so excited , can't wait til Christmas.....Do I need to schedule the sunrise safari myself 90 days out (just around the corner) or is this something that I could get from the staff?? Just booked it yesterday so I haven't had time to receive anything yet. Thanks in advance for your help.

As soon as you book your concierge room call and try to get the Sunrise Safari. CRO gave me their # when I upgraded my room and suggested trying to get a space...unfortunately it is fully booked and this was at about 45 days out...most people plan their vacations alot futrther out that I do but I'm "the list"
Anyway, good luck everyone with your requests. I also requested that they make my mother an appointment for a massage and have a gift certificate (for the massage) waiting in the room for her when we check in...I'll let you know what happens...

Janet2k...I tried to do a search...it is disabled....seems to have been for some time! I went thru the AKL resort thread and there is some stuff on there but it is so mixed with other things. We stayed at AKL for 3 nites in 1/03 and fell IN LOVE w/ AKL. We moved to WL and DD was so disappointed...all I now hear is "I will being seeing animals from my room right mom?" So there in lies my concern about a view! We have the 3 previous nites in a standard savannah view. The concierge and sunrise safari are a surprise for DD....she likes to be pamper more than I do!! Thanks for all the info...if you have any thing else please pass it my way!
