We just returned from AKL, we were in a 1 bedroom suite-2285, quite a hike to the lounge, but I needed the exercise. I can not stress how fantastic the concierge staff was!! We felt it was worth it. The food offerings were good and it was great to grab a drink whenever you needed one. They were helpful with all our PS and we received a small gift for being repeat guests-very nice touch. Several ABC stars were there doing a show at MGM so you got to see some of them in the lounge. Prior to our first visit to AKL I wasn't sure I would like it, but it has become one of our favorites. If you have any questions, let me know. Beth

I've read you have to request bottled water or cans of coke? True?

Also what sort of restrictions are there regarding bringing snacks out of the lounge and back to your room?

Thanks

Indigo

Yes, you do have to request bottled water, and cans of soda. I don't know of any restrictions on bringing snacks back to the room. That is what we did most of the time since our room had such an awesome view! Laurie :D

We are staying conceirge in Feb. --- are all conceirge rooms deluxe rooms. My daughters want bunk beds (You would think at 14 and 10 they would not) My mother is going with us and hubby is staying at home. I don't want to share a bed with my Mother and I see that some deluxe rooms have bunk beds, queen bed and daybed. Is there an extra change for this configuration?

Hi BethA! I'm so glad to hear that you had a great visit at the AKL Concierge! Welcome home! My boyfriend and I will be there Nov.3-Nov. 8. We're planning on doing the Sunrise Safari. Did you take advantage of this? If so, would you recommend it?

Were robes provided in the room?

Thanks for offering to answer our questions! :D

You did have to request the water and soda, but it was never any problem. They have several kinds of juice out all day, along with milk, coffee, and juice boxes. There were robes in the room both times we've stayed there. I'm not sure about the extra charge for the day bed, just that you have to be sure to request it.
We did the sunrise safari last trip and this time my husband and my son went again with his friend. It is amazing how many animals you see and all the information the guide gives you. They said the breakfast was even better than the last time. I would recommend it to anyone. I emailed the concierge staff several times before our trip and they were very helpful. I'm sure they will answer any questions you have.

The was a pull out couch that slept 2 and 2 queen beds. We were in 2285 and you were so close you felt you could touch the animals. You could see a parking lot in the back of all the savannah area, and some pens, but it did not spoil the view. There were a lot of animals and the giraffes seemed to always be outside the room.

We stayed in concierge last summer in a room with a queen, bunks and a daybed. We have 3 kids, and they each need their own bed, so this worked out great for us! You have to request this configuration, but there is no extra charge as long as you are paying for a deluxe room anyway.

We stayed our last night at the AKL. We just love this place:) The concierge staff is amazing. This is now my favorite concierge. I love the fact that the lounge was never crowded when we were there. We hung out at the resort all day and enjoyed going up to the lounge for the different meal services they offered. We were there when the ABC stars were there too:D I was talking to one of the CM's and she was telling us that we just missed Michael Jackson and Bruce Willis and Demi Moore(they were in separate suites celebrating DD's bday)

Hi All,

Looking for some info. We just stayed AKL standard room last week and fell in love with this resort. We are taking another trip in 2003 but are staying off site at a house:( . We were thinking about adding a few extra nights at the AKL but have decided to try and save to stay concierge for 7 nights in 2004. Is it really worth the extra money? Is there any discounts for that type of room? What is the rate to stay concierge?

Hi wdisneyaholic!

I can't tell you if the AKL Concierge is worth it, because we won't be staying there until November. However, I can tell you a little bit about the prices.

AKL concierge during value season this year is $380.00. A savannah view room is $265.00. So, that's a difference of about $115.00. During Disney's peak season, a concierge room is about $510.00, and savannah room is $340.00. So, the difference in the rooms in peak season is $170.00. Depending on the season, there's probably going to be a $100.00 to $200.00 difference in the rooms per night. So, if possible, you should investigate Disney's value season to see if those dates appeal to you. (This year, I think the value season is Nov. 3-Dec. 20, and Aug. 26-Sept. 26.) That way, you'll be getting concierge for the lowest possible price.

This year, my boyfriend and I are headed to the AKL concierge for Nov. 3-Nov. 8. I was able to book my reservation with a code. The code saved me $923.00 on my package in concierge (We're using the Discovery Magic package)!!!! You can also book room only reservations with a code in the AKL concierge. During value season, people have reported concierge room only rates at about $249.00 a night. That's a lot better than the regular value season rate of $340.00! :D

So, while I can't tell you if the extra $$ is worth it, I can tell you that there is hope that you'll be able to book AKL concierge with a discount! Maybe someone else on the boards can tell us if they think the AKL concierge is worth the extra $100.00 a night.

Good luck, and have fun at Disney!

We are a family of 5, and upgraded our Deluxe Savannah room to concierge for only $44.00 per night. I feel this will be money well spent, even if we only take advantage of the breakfast. Although, me and DH to plan to have a few glasses of wine...

with the new codes that are out right now you can get conceirge value season for about 250.00. I am hoping for similar rates in feb.

Renee

We booked with a code AKL Concierge during Holiday season (their highest rate).

Usually you can't find a code that includes the Holiday time period. It runs from 12/20 to 01/01.

However- the cost of a Concierge Value time period rate room is $415.00. The same room during the Holiday time period rate is $595.00. Without a code.

We were able to take advantage of the code rate and are paying $249.00 a night. Last year we paid $239.00, but the Holiday rate last year was $580.00 a night.

Imagine! That was the first time that we'd ever been able to stay in Concierge!!! DH was VERY impressed!! In fact- after we got back, he told me that if I could find a rate as good again, he'd be more than willing to participate.

Enjoy!!!

Where did you find a code for the holidays? Because of the school schedule we always travel during the holidays and I never seem to get a discount.

A couple is coming over to visit us for a day. Can we take them up to the Concierge level?

BethA-

It's on Mary Waring's www.mousesavers.com website!!
There's another code for AP holders (which I am) but it is only good through 12/19.
Our ressie starts on 12/22, so we couldn't take advantage of it. The price of our room would have gone down another $10.00 a night but... oh well.

Good luck!!
