AKL Concierge Question

We have never stayed in concierge before. We know that there are foods/drinks offered in the lounge. Can anyone tell me what is offered? We don't know whether we should do a 2 meal plan or 3 meal plan, and knowing what is offered in the lounge would help.

Secondly, I'll give you my advice about dining plans with CL. I would not go with the deluxe plan unless you really like a lot of signature restaurants. That being said, IMO, the only meal you can really flat out replace in the lounge is breakfast. But keep in mind it's more of an expanded continental breakfast, with hot cereal also being an option every day. Afternoon snacks are the least substantial, usually homemade potato chips & something sweet like gummy bears or yogurt pretzels and soft drinks. Definitely not enough to substitute for a meal. Evening snacks might fill you up if you are a light eater; cheeses, crackers, hummus and other crudites and generally one or two different hot appetizers (and at AKL they tend to be somewhat ethnic, such as a curried seafood tart.) Later in the evening there are some nice small portion desserts and cordials.

We like to stay CL for just a few nights towards the end of longer stay and we tend to forego any dining plan during this time. We also use this time to wind down before heading home and don't generally visit the parks; we enjoy the offerings and like to dine at Jiko and Sanaa on site. Makes it very easy to have some appetizers in the lounge, then go enjoy dinner, skip dessert, and come back before bedtime for a little something sweet. I kind of feel like staying CL is a waste of money if you are not spending most of your time at the resort. And we find the above scenario to work quite nicely for us.

We have done the regular DP with CL and the DxDP without CL and we preferred the DP and CL. It is just too much food otherwise. We have small kids so the CL offerings appealed to us and I know if we stayed at AKL we would try to stay CL just because the is less availability of other places to eat.
