Hi, this may certainly be a silly question. Obviously I'm not used to concierge & my knowledge of it is limited. But, if everyone says that you really should have a Savannah view to enjoy the AKL to the max., then why would people spend a lot more $$$ for a concierge room w/ a pool view. I realize concierge has many treats but wouldn't you rather have a deluxe Savannah room over a pool concierge room?? :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
Thanks for setting me straight!
Kathy

This is why I booked us into a deluxe savannah view and then paid to upgrade at check-in to concierge after we were able to confirm that we would have a savannah view. However, we were unable to take the SS as even the wait-list was full.

The concierge lounge is on a keyed-access floor (6th). There are only about 12 guest rooms on this floor, thus they have to be concierge. Half of these rooms overlook the pool area. I was told that those pool-view rooms are 'smoking-optional' - not an option for me anyway.

We did LOVE the AKL and the concierge service (our first experience with this) so we did book concierge for our December trip this year. We do have reservations for the SS this time!

We were in a deluxe pool view on the fifth floor- without concierge. I don't know if they use these rooms for concierge (they do use rooms on the 5th and 6th floors). We were upgraded from standard, so we only paid $119. I loved the location, as we were above the lobby, next to the bridge. Very close to everything and the view was beautiful (especially at night). I don't think I would pay for it, though. I don't see us paying more than $200 a night for a hotel room EVER, though. It's just not in our budget. I did see Poly gv concierge once for $224 (recently) and think that would be a great deal, because they supposedly have great food offerings, water, etc.

If seeing the animals from your balcony is that important to you, I would go with a savannah view. I wasn't necessary for me. We had a wonderful time where we were.

What is the difference between Savannah Deluxe and a regular Savannah view?
As mentioned, the deluxe rooms are on the 5th floor. They are larger than the standard rooms. Since thay are larger, they jut out from the building, overhanging the rooms below them. This could be one of the reasons some have commented about how dark their rooms were - if they were in standard.

Some have said that they liked their standard view rooms as they were closer to the animals than the upper floors. We prefered the the deluxe as we could see the whole savannah. When we went down to the public viewing areas on the 2nd floor, we were surprised how much the foliage (even in early December) blocked views across the savannah. From down there we could only see the animals that were right around us.

The days we spent at the AKL were non-park days. There was so much to see and do at the lodge that we (2 adults) were kept plenty busy.

AKL concierge is definitely worth it......why the pool view costs more than the savannah room I don't know , unless there's a premium to stay on the sixth floor with a pool view.

I love a savanaah view....that's why I stay at AKL.....to enjoy the animals!

Either way, you won't regret staying concierge!

Not to beat a stone to death, but if you had the choice of Concierge pool view or deluxe Savannah view, which would you choose. Assuming the animal view was important to you? Thanks soooo much!:teeth:

Without a doubt the deluxe savannah view.

We just got back from the concierge savannah view rooms. It was worth it for us because my dad is in a wheel chair and he wasn't sure that he would feel comfortable wheeling around the resort for views of the animals.

We really enjoyed watching the animals from our balcony because it was easier to keep tabs on the kids in the late evening and early morning...that was when the animals were most visible. Another bonus for the 6th floor concierge savannah rooms is that you are closer to the lounge than the pool view rooms.

Is it worth it? Which are you putting a premium on? Seeing the animals from your room or concierge services? The food is excellent by the way. If I were staying at AKL to see the animals, no I wouldn't get the pool view room I would downgrade to deluxe savannah view and find something enjoyable to do with the savings.
