Just spoke w/ AKL. Is it true you can spend all that $$ on Concierge and NOT be guaranteed a Savannah View? Also...sunrise safari can be booked 90 days in advance and only for 25 people on Saturday and Tuesday? Ugh. All of a sudden it isn't looking so hot unless I wanna eat! Any comments or help would be appreciated as I would like to decide today if possible. Rich ... I hope your reading this

I very specifically said "Deluxe, savannah, concierge" They didn't notify me that the view wasn't guaranteed.

If my "deluxe, savannah concierge" room doesn't have a savannah view, I am going to freak out.

It is my understanding also that the view is not guaranteed for concierge level. All other room categories, you pay based on the view.

It is true that the sunrise safari is only offered 2 times a week and only a limited number of spaces available. If you are going during a busy period, it may be difficult to book.

Rich might be different since he is staying on DVC points and not paying cash.

I called earlier today.

I forget what she said the total number of concierge rooms was, but only seven are not savannah view. Those seven rooms are all smoking rooms. The bottom line is that there is no guarantee.

I requested non-smoking, savannah view, I guess all I can do is hope.

I do believe that point reservations get at least a little preference, I don't expect a problem.

I do think that the person I made the reservation with was at fault for not making me aware that the room I understood I was reserving was "Deluxe, savannah concierge" actually doesn't exist. The catagories are "Deluxe savannah" and "Deluxe concierge".....even though all the concierge rooms are the deluxe size, 381 sq ft, they are still called "Deluxe concierge".

Giving up on concierge...Going to book parents into the BWV's. I can't see paying all that $$ and still not being guaranteed :( We are gong week of April 7th and I'm sure w/ only 25 seats per day for two days a week they must be booked. Oh well, will just have to plan earlier next year  ;) Thanks for all the replys and info. Good luck Rich, I hope you get the savanna view.

Brittsmum, why don't you call the concierge desk directly & book the Sunrise Safari? I was also concerned about not getting a Savannah view, but the Concierge staff member I spoke with put my mind at ease... I don't know if all concierge rooms overlook Arusha Rock, but it's worth putting in your requests.... This looked to be the busiest savannah with lots of animals all times of the day....

Additionally, the food & drinks up on the concierge level are great & really add to the experience of being at the AKL... Personally, I think if staying at AKL it's worth it to be on the concierge level... Speak with the concierge's directly, they can put your mind at ease about both the view & the safari....

Mindybear had stayed at AKL Concierge level when we were there in January and she wasn't to impressed. Her comment was the savanah view wasn't as good as the "regular" savanah view rooms were. That was at least her impression.

What I was told about AKL concierge that the concierge rooms has the best view of the savanna's. If you make the resv's far enough ahead then can relax you will get a savanna view room. When we were there in January we did the Sunrise Safari and my husband loved it . We took advantage of the breakfasts and we had tasted some of their food in the evening. It was great. We took advantage of the coffee, sodas and all their snacks. Plus their concierge staff is right there to assit you in any way with PS's and anything else that you would need them for.

Prior to our stay they set up all our tours (AK tour, Keys to Kingdom and Sunrise Safari) and they did all of our PS. They were very nice in their emails to me. When I asked them to change our PS's they did exactly what I wanted and answered all my questions about anything I asked. I had great service from them prior to even setting foot on their property. In my opinion you get more service from the concierge staff then if you were doing regular savanna room. The concerge service gives the guest great Disney service prior to their visit and while the guest is on property and then you get all their food and drinks.

The only thing I have against concierge is that its on the 5th flr. You have an obstructed view of the animals. I wish the concierge rooms was on lower floors to get a better view of the animals.

Also in my opinion with their Sunrise Safari they need to redo it and get it a little more educational. On the tour you drive right past the barns. In my opinion you need to get out and see the barns. Then go on the K Safari and do breakfast.

We personally will not do AKL concierge again, but its good to do it one time.
