AKL concierge and TA

If you book your trip at Disney with a travel agent, does the AKL concierge staff still contact you prior to your trip? Do you still receive a package? Is it better to reserve through Disney?

We are new to all of this and after reading Cass's review, we decided to reserve the AKL concierge... now all the questions...

Hi yFraser,

I've booked two concierge packages through a non-Disney travel agent, and both times the concierge called around 60 days out to see if there was anything special we needed.

I used Small World Travel, and they do only Disney bookings. I'm not sure whether that had anything to do with the level of service we received, though. I would think not, as Disney should be primarily concerned with the fact that you're staying concierge, not who you booked through. YMMV.

The AKL is a great property, and the concierge (IMHO) is better than the Grand Floridian's, Contemporary's, and Boardwalk's. It seems to be a much better value. You should have a great time!
