Is it easier to book a concierge studio or 1 BR at 7 months out? We'll take whatever might be easiest to get. Or maybe at 7 months we won't have a chance getting either!! :surfweb:

:) :thumbsup2 A one bed would be a lot easier than concierge...good luck..

If you are looking at a Concierge studio or a Concierge one bedroom, there are five of each. That's all.

I'm just throwing out my guess here, I would think a Concierge Studio would book first, being it is lower points, it comes with daily maidservice. That is what I booked when I booked Concierge. As already stated there are 5 each. I would be shocked if there is availabity if there is one at 7 months. Keep us posted. One reason I bought AKV's was for Concierge booking.

Considering that they will probably book one or two of the 2BR lockoffs as a 2BR unit, that leaves at most four studios and 1BRs and maybe as few as three studios and 1BRs so you will be very lucky to get either one at 7 months out.

Those trying to book 11 months out for early December reported that the studios sold out before the 1BRs did.

Good luck!!

I've got BCV as a backup so if we get into AKV I'll just consider that a bonus! Just hoping to enjoy AKV and do the sunrise safari someday. Kids are growing up and trying to fit everything in is crazy!

Not sure what dates you are looking at but I got 3 nights of our 6 night stay at AKV in a concierge studio at 3 weeks past the 7 month window (for first week of August)....I was willing to take either a studio or 1BR and the studio was available for 3 nights and the 1BR for only 2 nights so I went with the studio....interestingly enough when I booked they told me they had 2 studios still available for those 3 nights...so I guess it never hurts to ask you might get lucky!

Remember that the Sunrise Safari is only two times a week and you must be staying in Concierge either the night before or the night of. That leaves three days a week when you are not eligible for the Sunrise Safari.

so how many rooms do they have to offer right now for the concierge level at AKV? We are hoping to get a 2 bedroom in october

I did the same. We normally stay in one bedrooms when it is just my DH and me but for our April trip, we booked a studio concierge at AKV. It comes with the daily maid service and the free food but points are higher. There are no walk in showers though at AKV and that's my favorite part of one bedrooms. I guess I figured that for 5 nights we could "rough" it and skip the one bedroom doing concierge studio instead.

Concierge consists of a total of five 2BR lockoffs. They will probably book one or two of them as a 2BR unit, and "lockoff" the rest to rent out as 1BRs and studios.

DW called this morning to see if we could get a Concierge studio in mid October. There are NONE available until the very end of December. The CM looked as far out as she could and the Concierge studios where all booked.

We booked a SV studio and are on a waiting list to move up to Concierge.

Later,
Dan

Well that tells me what I need to know! But I'm planning a couple of different trips and maybe I'll get lucky on one of them! Looks like we should plan a short trip during a really slow time in order to get the best chance for AKV concierge. Thanks for the advice.

 well if not this time maybe next trip we will get the C-Level. just have to bank the extra points i guess.......

As the number of AKV owners increases, it is going to get harder and harder to book Concierge level. Those going at the least busy times (for DVC) will have the best chance. Call day by day at 11 months out, right when MS opens at 9am. Good luck!!

ETA: It looks like you do not own at AKV. In that case, call day by day at 7 months out at 9am eastern time and hope for the best. You could also consider using the DVC Rent/Trade board to set up a trade with an AKV owner: they book AKV Concierge for you and you book a reservation at VWL for them. Given the popularity of VWL in December you might be able to work something out with another DVC member.

We have a 1BR concierge villa booked for this December. I called day by day at the 11 month window to book it right at 9:00 am. One day the Member Services rep said I got the last one available, and this was at 9:02 am. I think that it's going to be harder and harder to book concierge as the number of AKV owners increases. Plus, I'm thinking that getting it at the 7 month window for non-AKV owners is going to be tricky as well. You can always waitlist though, you never know what might open up.

Well I think I've given up on trying for AKV concierge for the couple of trips we are planning. Both trips are at busier times of the year and we are so happy at BCV. Just for fun, I called to see if i could get concierge at 7 months out right now and it was booked. Is the sunrise safari also available to those who pay for concierge at AKL? (Surely it must be.)

The sunrise safari is ONLY available to concierge guests, whether they are DVC or regular AKL. I've only done the safari as AKL guest so far.

Yes, it is. That's how we did it a few years ago. We really enjoyed the Sunrise Safari. The room we stayed in on the fifth floor with bunk beds is now a DVC villa.

The Sunrise Safari is only conducted twice a week. So it's not available every day. So anyone who is lucky enough to get one day at AKV Concierge might be unlucky enough to fall on a day when there is no Sunrise Safari.

Does anyone know what the views are going to be like for the Club Level rooms in the new DVC building once the village in complete in 2009? I know they are mostly standard views now in the main hotel.

We were just there last week. We had a two-bedroom, savanna view. We loved it. The rooms were so big and decorated really nice. The flat-screen TVs are a really nice addition to the villas. We could see the construction of the new villas from our room. It looks like half the building faces the savanna and half faces the parking lot. Any chance some of the club level rooms will be on the savanna side?

Just wondering... Because I think I would choose the view over the club perks. I wanted the club level to do the Sunrise Safari. That is about it. We have to figure out what will be the best for the entire stay. We loved being on the savanna this time. It was so cool to see different animals at different times of the day. We even had animals sleeping outside our window at night. Also, I don't know how much we would use the club food/ drink because we like the dining plan. That would be a lot of food and snack.

All things being considered, I would choose a savanna view over the club level if we had to... To bad that means missing the Sunrise Safari:sad2: .
