Question: I will be staying at the club level at Animal Kingdom Lodge and they said after I had booked that there was no wheelchair accessible bathrooms for the standard rooms. We can make due but I have to say a wheelchair accessible bathroom would make it alot easier. I just want to be able to do the Sunrise Safari and everything. Would it be fair to ask the Concierge about possible options?

I don't know about the HP bathrooms but I did the Sunrise Safari in my ECV. I transferred to a regular seat on the "jeep" but if I needed to stay in a w/c they would have accommodated me.
Enjoy.

Do you mind telling me how the hotel and safari was? I have never been to Animal Kingdom.

I have done the Sunrise Safari while remaining in my power chair. As for no accessible bathrooms in a standard room...hmm.. I have been in such a room before, in fact just a few months ago. It had a roll in shower, a queen bed, and a pull out bed with a savannah view. I would call back regarding your ressie and make sure that special services was involved with the room assignment. It could have been that there are only a few accessible standard rooms and that they were already blocked as I have found in the past at another WDW resort ( and thus was no longer able to stay there ).---Kathy

I called special reservations yesterday and they told me that there was no disabled rooms still available at the level I was staying for the days I am staying. It won't be ideal but they are making a few accommodations to make my room more accessible.

I'm glad you called - that's what I thought..that those rooms had already been blocked and reserved at the level that you booked. I had to cancel a special trip once to the GF because all the rooms with a roll in shower had been reserved. I think I was told there were only 9 in the entire resort there. I'm glad you can make do. For me if the room did not have the roll in shower/wider bathroom door I'd have to cancel my trip. I refuse to take a sponge bath and visit the restrooms in the lobby on a vacation!---Kathy

Well, I emailed the concierge about my concerns and Don was absolutely amazing. He seemed absolutely sure that me needs will be met. He said that there are many disabled rooms with a Savannah view. I received the impression that I may need to be downgraded to a regular "Savannah" view room but I would think they would still let me do the sunrise safari since I booked the club level. He said they can't do anything until at least a week before my arrival because my reservation doesn't come into the system until then but I really got the best vibes that everything will work out. I am so glad they give such great service for the amount of money we pay!
