Anyone out there know about the AKL Christmas Decorations? I hear WL are nice and we are booked there but we are thinking of changing to AKL to get the discount and add on a day to our trip. We are going Nov29-dec 6 and if we change to AKL we will be staying till the 7th! I heard they have a chocolate display there does anyone know if that is correct?
Thanks so much!!

Can anyone out there give me some info? Thanks so much!

The tree in the lobby of AKL is beautiful. I don't remember a chocolate display though.

We've stayed at both WL and AKL, and I'd pick AKL in a heartbeat. And definitely if it means adding another night to your stay!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge has a beautiful Christmas tree that is decorated with African artifacts. The tree is so big that it takes up a large portion of the lobby. Enjoy.

Great picture of the tree ~ brings back nice memories. I don't remember a chocolate display when I went in 12/06.

Thanks for the tree picture -- that is getting me excited for upgrading my trip!

We also never saw a chocolate display. I do love AKl, especially at Christmas!

In the past, I can remember each deluxe resort having a gingerbread/chocolate house display themed to the resort. In the GF, it's the giant gingerbread house. At the Poly, it was a gingerbread poly. At the AKL, it was a gingerbread and chocolate AKL. The display was down near Boma and Jiko. The decorations at all of the resorts are fabulous.

We went to Boma at Christmas in 2004 and yes, there is a little African village display down near the restaurants where everything is edible. I am thinking chocolate but cannot remember. I have the Christmas special with the Samantha woman on it and we just watched it this weekend. They showed the edible village and I cannot remember what they said it is made out of though.

WOW THAT SOUNDS SO NICE!! I AM THINKING THAT WL WON'T HAVE ANY OPENINGS WITH THE DISCOUNT SO I PROBABLY SHOULD JUST CHANGE OVER TO THE ANIMAL KINGDOM AND ADD ON A DAY OR 2 LOL..
IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS ANY ADVICE PLEASE SHARE!
THANKS!!

We were at AKL last year over Thanksgiving and the HUGE, beautiful Christmas tree was up in the lobby. It is worth a trip over to see it even if you are not staying there. I think the chocolate display at the entrance to Boma was Christmas themed, but I am not sure about that. I am sure that there was no type of chocolate display in the AKL lobby.

We were there December 2005. It was beautiful. There was one huge Christmas tree and then many auxiliary Christmas trees around the lobby. We actually used the opportunity to do a photoshot for our family Christmas card. Dressed the boy up and had him pose around the decorations. It worked perfectly!

I looked in my flickr account and I don't think I have any pictures up that show the resort decorations very well. Sorry.

This is the shot we used for the Christmas card though:

I think everyone is referring to the display outside of Boma in the little water area. I believe all of that display is made of some type of chocolate/fondant.

For all those wondering why they didnt' see it.....it's because they didn't (I'm not sure MOST of the resorts did them) have one last year.

In years past, it's been set up down by Boma's, near and around the fountain. It was always a recreation of an african village, with animals, etc, festively decorated. I think I have some pics from around the holidays in '05....I'll see if I can dig them up.

Mostly chocolate (white and dark), with some marzipan paste thrown in for some of the smaller details, and some blown sugar sculpture thrown in for good measure.

Is it December yet?!?! All this Christmas at AKL talk is firing me up for our December 7-11 trip!! I forgot how beautiful the resort looks during the holidays. Can't wait!!

These pictures were taken outside of Boma in Dec. 2005. The work was done by the pastry chefs at Boma.
