Hi,
My husband and I are debating on if we should rent a car next week or not. We have never been a big fan of Disney bus transportation. However, we have never gone with out kids.
Since we are staying at AKL, how long of a bus ride is it to the parks? how does it work? ( do we have to change buses)
How late do they go from Boardwalk and Pleasure Island??

Thanks
Linda

Our experience with the buses at AKL was excellent. I wouldn't rent a car if it were me. You'll love AKL!

There's no direct bus to the boardwalk area from AKL. To get there, you'd need to go to a park then transfer to a BW bus from there.

We never rent a car. Seems like a waste of money to me. I'm on vacation I don't want to drive. The bus service for AKL is great. You don't share the bus with any other resort and it only has one stop in the front of resort. You can get to Boardwalk by also transfering at TTC and DTD.

We also never rent a car at WDW. The bus transportation from AKL was superb when we were there in January. We never waited very long for a bus. A couple of times my dh and I were the only passengers on the bus!

The ride to AK is very short, so that would probably be your best bet--assuming the bus shows up first--if you want to transfer buses and go to another resort.

Enjoy your stay. AKL is just amazing.

If you go to the TCC,you then need to then take the monorail or boat to MK and pick up the bus to BW

There are NO buses from the TTC to any Disney resort, except for WL/FW.

We had no problem with bus transportation. When we went to Boardwalk we usually took the bus to MGM or Epcot and walked to Boardwalk. If too tired we caught the bus to DTD and then to AKL. I have no complaints about the tranportation at AKL, it was wonderful.

I thought transportation at AKL was great ... we never had to wait a long time for a bus. I don't think the waits were ever longer than 15-20 minutes. The longest rides were to MK and DTD ... it seemed like they were about 20 minutes. I just took a quick nap ;)

I had a few AK Lodge runs from the MK today. I timed them to be 13 minutes from MK to AKL, and 11 minutes from AKL to MK. I did have the privledge of hitting green lights at all 4 intersections, had an average performing RTS, and I drove the posted speed limit. Obviously, this is just my experience... there are faster/slower buses & drivers out there.

What is your thoughts on going to Boardwalk from AKL? Do you know your scheduled for Thursday 31- AUgust 4th??

How do you go about going from AKL to Poly and back again? How much time would you allot?

I've taken a few days off for my birthday. When I return on Saturday, I will be at the MK for the weekend.

As for AKL -> BW... If DAK is open, go there. Otherwise, go to the Studios and catch the boat. Do NOT go to Epcot.

Go to the MK, and catch the Monorail. Both the bus and the Monorail rides will be about 12-13 minutes, plus wait time and walk time.
