AKL bunk bed question

I have a reservation at AKL and we are leaving in a few weeks, so I'm under the 45 day rule about changing my reservation. My son watched the planning DVD and thinks the bunk beds look like fun, but I reserved a room with two queen beds. So, my question is, can I change my reservation to a bunk bed room or is there a charge for that? Or should I just wait until we check in and see what's available?

I would just make a call and ask! I dont think its a problem,The worst they can say is not available.Bunk rooms are fun for the kids and I dont remember paying extra for bunks when we stayed this past December.Have fun AKL is a grand experience.

If you booked through CRO, you've got no problem. If you booked through WDTC, there is supposedly a $50 fee for change or modification. But I would play dumb and do as crazy4dizney suggested, call and ask if you could modify for no charge. ~:D~

A WDTC package (including the "room only" Basic Package) requires a $200.00 deposit within 14 days of booking. The balance will be due 45 days prior to check in. Checks, money orders, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover are accepted. Cancellation between 6 and 45 days prior to arrival will result in a $100.00 fee. Cancellation 5 days or less will incur a $200.00 fee. Any change or modification of the reservation inside the 45 day mark will incur a $50.00 fee.

I'd think you could call and request it. Bunkbeds are somthing they *try* to do,,but don't guarantee it. I"d think it'd be no different than, say, requesting a room on the 4th floor,or whatever. I've requested them 3 times,on a room only ressie, and it never shows up on my confirmation, yet at check in they know we wanted it. THe room size is no different, neither is the price. So i say call and ask,,and just double check it won't change your charge. Good luck!

bunkbed/queen bed/king are the same cost. Views are different costs at AKL. I would call them (CRO WDTC/whatever)and give them your confirmation number. Have them change/add the bunk bed request to your reservations. As previous posters have said, it is a request only, and they will do what they can do.

Good luck!

Debbie

I didn't know a bunk bed room was a request.... I thought it was a confirmed part of the reservation! You learn something new every day. Thanks for the information! I'll be calling to put in that request.

I think bunks are a sure thing if you do Deluxe Savannah View -- we were upgraded to this once, and there were bunk beds, and a totally different feel to the room, IMO.

The bunkbed rooms are the same size, but FEEL larger because you seem to have a little more room to move around. We really enjoyed them, and when you have one boy and one girl it works out great.

I'd also ask at check-in.

We always request bunk beds when we stay at the AKL, my kid's love them..they always tell us that it is not guaranteed but we have stayed there twice and had them both times...and the same for the WL...stayed there three times and always have gotten them although not guaranteed..

I just thought I would post a link to a few photos I have of a bunk bed room at the AKL -- click here.

Could any one tell me if the Bunk Beds would be big enough for an adult to sleep in??

Thanks

We love the bunk beds. My brother is 6'3" and he was hanging off a little but he really liked the bunk beds.

I would say call and request the bunk beds because it is just that, a "request", not a guarantee. I would not think it would he considered a change since it is only a request. It never hurts to try. :) Have a great time at the AKL. This is our favorite resort. :teeth:

My 6-2 225 husband sleeps in the bottom bunk and he has no problem (DD won't sleep without me on vaca... :p ) My only caution would be to be careful about hitting your head when you get up - the top bunk is on the low side, for safety reasons.

BTW, my 79 yo Dad also slept in the bottom bunk - he prefered it over the queen bed! LOL!
