Has anyone had a reception, welcome/ rehearsal dinner at any of these sites?
If so, how was it? What are the prices? Do they section off an area for your group?

I am thinking of having an event here along with the wedding. The private Jiko room is to small for my group, so I was trying to see if there are any alternative. Also there is an area above Sanaa or Boma I think where you can look at animals, I was wondering if you can have an event there.

TIA

It's too bad the wine room @ Jiko is too small. I saw it in another brides TR (Lori) and I saw it in person, and it is gorgeous (and Jiko is my fav restaurant in WDW)

I was just at all three of those restaurants, and I don't beleive there is a place to view the animals from any that are private. The area above Boma is a lounge that is open to anyone, and I beleive it just looks over Boma. Sanaa doesn't have a private area either, although from my experience, that restaurant isn't as busy as most, and is quite spaced out, so you could perhaps make a private area :confused3

Hi there!

I just wanted to chime in and ask how many people you were having as we only had 1/2 of th wine room (for 20 people).
So, if you have 40 or less, I think you can do the Wine Room.

I'm not sure about Sanaa or any other areas in the resort for parties, but it never hurts to ask!

If you have any other questions about Jiko for a private dinner, let me know!

:goodvibes

Here is how we had it set up in case you were interested, also you can read about it in my TR...

We should have between 60-70 guest, but that could change. I am going to ask my WC if we could do the short reception in the ain dining area of Jiko just like you can for Nacorsees.

Can you have Characters or wedding cake at Jikos? That will be another deciding factor because DH wants characters. Can you see animals from Jiko?

By the way, I love your pictures and trip report.

Thanks
Dawn

Ah, yeah, that would be too many for the wine room...:sad2:

I honestly don't know if they would let you do it in the main dining room but I would definitely ask you planner, because you never know until you ask! :goodvibes

I don't know about the characters, I'm thinking not, but then again, you need to ask. I think you would be able to do cake though.

You can't see animals from Jiko, but you can from Sanaa, so there is another option to ask about when you speak to your planner (in other words, ask about Jiko AND Sanaa)...

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'm anxious and excited to see what you find out! :)

Do you have a PJ? I'm thinking I want to subscribe to it!

Yes, if you hold a private event there during the day, before the restaurant opens, you can have your reception in the main dining room, have cake, and have characters. The food and beverage minimum is $1,500 and it's buffet only. Also, the food will *not* be prepared by Jiko's chefs - it's done by Disney catering. They can try to replicate stuff from Jiko's menu, though. :thumbsup2

Thanks Lorelei and Carrie. I have ask my Consultant, he just has not gotten back to me yet. I am impatient so I wanted to know some of the answers ahead of time. I sent my WC a three page letter with all my questions and desires categorize. So he may be trying to answer everything before he gets back to me.

I do not have a PJ yet, but maybe soon. I was waiting until I had some details finalize before I start one. This is our third time trying to have a wedding, so I hope this time it goes okay. At least I kept most of the savings we had for the original wedding.

I guess I can start a PJ then everyone will know why I ask so many questions.
By the way I do have a picture report on the passporter board. I gues I can moves that over here.

Thanks
Dawn

What is the F&B minimum for half the wine room please and who do you contact about it if you are not booking it through DFTW. Thank you

When we had our wedding 1/2 of the wine room was $2500 F&B min and $4000 for the whole room.

I do not know who you can contact about booking it however as I did everything through my WC...

I finally heard back from my consultant. He says I cannot have it at Jiko or Sanaa because they do not have a catering team. But according to the special venue guide you can have it at Jiko if it ends before 3pm. So I do not know what to do. I guess I have to settle with Ariel but it does not go with my theme now. Also I can't use Italy as a DP location because I have to have more than 100 guests, but I told him I wanted dinner there which says I can have 30 to 50 guests. Now, I also have to wait until September to get my LOA, since our vow renewal will be in September 2011. I thought they had change this.

What do you think I should do? I guess I can wait until I get a planner to see if things have changes?

I am having a DP at Italy West and I only have 45 guests. Maybe you could have yours there, if your heart is set on Italy?

Not sure about what type of wedding you are having and theme but have you considered a reception in AK, for example at Tumu Tamu courtyard?

I think it will be to hot to have it there in September. Plus I do not think I will be able to have a Dp on the same day because we will have to wait until the park closes to have dinner.
I am thinking I will call Disney events and see if I can have something through them.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm also curious about this!!! :confused3

I would really like to have my rehearsal dinner at Sanaa. Is this possible?

We will probably have about 30 people attending. I am aware that there is no way they could set up a private area or anything, but as long as we were seated at tables relatively near each other, we wouldn't mind!

Any info, ladies???
