Yesterday I decided that after work (3pm) I was going to hop over to Orlando and see the Disney resorts for a couple of hours. Everything was fine and dandy until I hit I-275, RUSH HOUR! It took me about an hour to get out of Tampa, lesson learned #1.
When I finally got to Orlando, I headed straight for the AKL. Very breath taking! I was there for about 1/2 hour, saw the animals, took my pics, and got my pressed pennies and AKL pin.
Off to BC/YC, very pretty as well! I got to know the hallways pretty well, because the weirdo I am, I could not find B&C for the life of me! One reason is because of all the refurbishments going on near the pool. Once I found Beaches and Cream I ordered my Frozen Sunshine and a side order of fries, both were very good!
I think next time I go in August I'll order a sandwich, pop, and get a milkshake to go. BTW I saw a Johnny Depp look a like in the hallways of the BC!
So wished it was him!
Next stop, Wilderness Lodge, also a "great hotel"! I looked around a bit, took some pictures and found the boat to the Contemporary.
I had been in the Contemporary before so I had a bit more knowledge than the others. Walked around, got my pressed pennies, went up on the observation deck (wow-ie!).
Hopped on the monorail over to the Polynesian. Looked around for a couple minutes found that all the seats by the window had been taken and off to the Grand Floridian.
Grand Floridian, one of my favorites! Found my way (took a while) to the docks near Narcousee's, Lots of BUGS! Watched the WISHES fireworks! Got some pictures then off to the Contemporary...
Nope made the stupid choice of taking the boat from the the MK instead of CR!!!, Lesson learned #2!!!! It took me about a 1/2 hour instead of 10 minutes.
Once I finally found my car at the WL, I was fine. So I decide to see, and maybe eat at DTD. Nope wrong again, I should've started to head home instead of trying to see if I could find anything there, everything was almost closed by time I got there. Lesson learned #3.
Got on I-4, btw I knew about the construction... never realized it would take that long to get from exit 58 to exit 55, 1/2 hour going at 2MPH!!!! Luckily there was a Waffle House, open 24/7! Ate there, very good, very quick and very quite (one of the only people there).
By the time I got home I was and am still very tired. But I will learn from my mistakes for future trips.
Lesson #1, never go to Orlando during Rush Hour! Take an entire day to do it, way too rushed.
PS- Avoid construction as much as you can!!!
Lesson #2, Don't ever try and get on Resort Launch boat at MK after the park has closed, and if you know there's any easier way!!
Lesson #3,DTD closes at 11PM Monday thru Thursday. Don't try and beat the clock!
Please everyone learn from my experiences, I may have been to Disney dozens of times but I still don't know everything in the "World."
