AKL and Sunrise Safari

Can anyone tell me how far in advance you can reserve the Sunrise Safari,is it difficult to get and in your opinion- would you do it again.? Also- are there regular days it runs??? THANK YOU!

Hi Karebear,

Sunrise Safari can be booked 90 days in advance. It is offered on Tuesday and Saturday mornings and you must be a concierge guest the night before. You also will need admission to the AK park the day of the safari.

Please note they may impose a minimum night's stay for the sunrise safari. Haven't done it yet, but there is talk that it will be done that way.

I've heard they run several trucks sometimes so, I believe that will depend on attendance, so I don't think you'll have a problem. I would just book it as soon as you hit 90 days. That is what we did and we are a large party.


Oh, its $49.95 per adult and $24.95 for children 3-11.

It does sometimes fill up. When we were there the last time they had a waiting list, and there were two parties who couldn't get on it.

We were so sure we wanted to do this that I e-mailed the concierge several days before my 90 days came up. They reminded me about the 90 day policy and the morning of my 90 day to the sunrise safari, I received an e-mail from concierge stating they had reserved our party. They already had our credit card on file so it was no problem.

They are really great. Andrea and Jill are both dolls, and Robert is fantastic.

If it's something you really want to do, definitely don't wait past your 90 days.

I agree with ducklite - book as early as you can - you can always cancel if you change your mind lcloser to the time - there were several families waitlisted who did not get to go on the safari...

Cassie your pix are fabulous. Are the animals really that close? What kind of zoom were you using? I love the giraffes. Those are our favorites. Do you remember what trail and savannah the giraffes are on?

The animals are THAT close... no zoom at all

I have a cool little camera... a kodak advantax preview - it takes great shots and the best thing is after you shoot the pic it shows you it on a little screen - then you can decide if you want to keep it, or delete it.. you can also tell the camera to make more copies of it on the film...

I love this little camera and it is dead easy to use..

We were on the Kudo Trail...

I saw giraffes all over the place though... I think they must be pretty well on all the savanna's.

We did not see ostriches on our savana or wilderbeasts... but we saw them elsewhere in the hotel by walking around.

I can't believe we are at less than 80 days. We booked this so long ago. Can't wait to do concierge at AKL. We're doing the Poly for the first 4 nights, but the animals are calling me.

Wow no zoom? My boys are going to flip. We have a drive thru safari by our house that we go to all the time, but you are always in the car. the boys are going to love this.

Well.. no zoom to speak of, you know just the little button but it barely does anything... the animals are really close - your boys will love it... hopefully you have not been scared into gagging and binding them so they don't make any noise or move a muscle.
