AKL + allergies

Has anyone had problems at the AKL with the animals, ie. allergies acting up?

We had problems with allergies in general in Florida, but nothing specific to AKL. Unless, of course, you're allergic to the occasional "poopie" smell.

You should not have a problem at all. I think you would need a much closer contact with the animals to have a problem. Also AKL DOES NOT have an oder from manure.

Most of the time it does not, but every once in a while there is a distinct odor when outside. We were just there a week ago, and there was no mistaking what that smell was. I will say, however, that it would in no way keep me from going back. I love the resort!

Queen of Allergies chiming in here. Was at AKL back in May 2001 and had absolutely no trouble. No animal smells to set me off.

BrianD -- if you can smell manure at AKL you better not come to my house my raise horses, cattle, and sheep. But having said that the dog manure in people's backyards smells far worse.

Hope this helps. I have Asthma and severe allergies and some of them are to different animals. We stayed 5 nights last April (2002) in the 90 plus degree heat and never had trouble with either my allergies or asthma there. In fact I find that I do much better in Florida with them than I do at home. I also spent a lot of time sitting out side on my savanaha view balcony with no distress.

I have no experience with AKL, but I recommend bringing everyone's allergy medication on any Disney vacation. Something is always beautifully in bloom and there's a decent chance that someone in your party will be allergic to something.
