Has anyone heard if there will be any accessible rooms in the concierge level of AKV?

I don't know about the HA rooms for concierge level AKL villas, but I do have some experience with the current set up.

The only roll-in shower Concierge room is on the 6th floor. I don't know if it is one of the pool view or 'bird' view rooms. (Sorry, but that is how I think of it, I've only seen birds on that section of the Sunset Savannah).

We had a HA concierge room this past December. Mom doesn't require the roll-in, so we were on the 5th floor overlooking the Arusha Savannah. When I made our reservations, the CM handling HA rooms I talked to was VERY helpful. I was asked about Mom's need for grab-bars (among other things - my main interest was that the bath/shower have a seat for her, as she can't stand for long at all). I said that while they would be helpful, there was only a 50/50 chance that they would be useful, as she has very limited use of her right arm. The CM made note of this and sure enough, ALL grab bars in our room were on her left side.

Point is: it may depend upon the level of accessiblity you require. I'd ask your guide. I asked our guide the first day they were able to talk to us. All she knew then was the numbers of HA rooms. They may know more now. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, Mary Ellen. I wonder if that room will remain accessible.

Very interesting about the bars on the left. I have never asked for that for our daughter but should have since like your mom she has very little use of her right arm. But she does need a rollin shower so that limits the pool of rooms more than if she could handle a tub/shower combo.

We may call our guide. The reason we haven't is that if we buy AKV it would primarily be to get the 11 month window for an occasional concierge stay to do the safari. I kind of hate to bother him about a question like this when we are so on the fence about buying some points.:confused3 Of course, I didn't hesitate to bother my fellow DISsers.:surfweb:

I'm in the same quandry as your daughter then. More grabbing on my left side and need of a roll-in shower. If you find out anything on AKV's accessible rooms, please post here.

We're debating a small add-on ourselves.

I would also like to know the answer to this question. Dson requires a roll in shower and we really like akl concierge. susan
