Can you hear the activities of the concierge lounge from your 6th floor room? Is there a door between the lounge area and where the room area begins, like at the Polynesian? I assume the TV would be constantly running in the Kilamanjaro Club. How noisy is a 6th floor room?

Are there connecting non-smoking rooms on the 6th floor? Thanks to anyone who can answer either ?

Hi there.....

The whole 6th floor is open concept - there are no doors to the lounge - it is open air to the the hotel thatched ceiling above it and the main lobby.

It is hard to hear the TV unless you are sitting right in front of it.. they keep it pretty low, the kids pull up stools and sit close, the adults spread out a bit more on the sofas and table/chair groupings.

You can hear the "buzz" of people from the Lobby 3 floors below - but it is not loud.

I believe there are connecting rooms on this floor - but you would have to request it - I find AKL very quiet and peaceful.

Also a note, there VERY few non-smoking rooms located on the 6th floor (I think it's no more than 10). They also do have a savahhan view, but are slightly obstructed by roof tops. If you want an unobstructed savannah view, you're better off on the 5th floor.

We just returned and stayed in 6204 -05--both nonsmoking, connecting rooms. The view is partially obstructed and not as great as other areas, but we saw a surprising number of animals and it was fine because it was close to the lounge. Any noise you hear is from the lobby, not the lounge.

Hi BethA...

What animals are on that Savanna? and how was your stay/lounge/service/....etc.

Did you have a great time?

Thanx

Beth A,

Please give details re the bedding for #6204 & 6205. Any bunkbeds or daybed in these rooms?

Also, are these rooms closer to the lounge/elevators or towards the back ?

Would you request these rooms again? Thanks

We had room 6208 non-smoking Deluxe room so it was a bunkbed, queen and a daybed. This room would be on the left side looking towards Arusha Rock, the lounge would be on the oppisite end and the elevators would be across on the other side. We saw Giraffe, Ankole Cattle, Tommies, several kinds of birds, I was not dissapointed. I thought the problem with the roof overhang was the lack of light inside the room, the view was great!

6204-6205 were nonsmoking, connecting rooms. 6204 was a handicapped accessible room, so the bathroom was not split, and no arm chair. We were able to see giraffes, cattle, ostrich, vultures and several other birds. There was no noise from the lounge-only the lobby. the service and offerings in the lounge were excellent as usual. We love AKL concierge and can't wait to go back--any discoounts out there? Beth

Beth A,

Thanks for the room info. Does #6204 have a king sized bed? Also is it two queens & a daybed in #6205?

Will you be doing a trip report? Thanks!

Both rooms were 2 queen beds. I'm not sure if I'll be doing a trip report, but would be happy to answer any questions. We stayed at AKL and then at the Contemporary-north wing.
