Hello,
I am a new DVC member. We bought AKL, and trying to book A 2-bed value for the first week of December. I’ve been looking for the last month with no luck. I’ve tried right a 8, with no luck. Anyone have any victories with this? Any tricks of the trade? Thanks!

A two bedroom value could be gone at 11 months, just because it’s a lock off and value studios are very desired. Also, there’s some remodeling going on at Jambo, and some value villas have been taken out of inventory.

It is extremely hard to book value anythings! There are very few Value villas.

Also, the first two weeks of December is probably the most desired time to book DVC. Some kinds of villas are gone, and never make it to 7 month bookings.

If you mean for next December (2020) people have been walking the Value units already for those dates. And since they're all lock-offs, the studio bookings and walks impact it.

Getting a 2BR Value is a rarity and should never be your standing plan.

What am I missing? How is it possible to already be walking December 2020 when the 11 month booking window hasn't opened yet ......
Not even close?

You can start walking 11 months prior to you use year as an example if you have an April use year you and want a Dec 2020 room you can start the walk May 2019. It would be ALOT of walking but you can do it.

And that is what is required for Value 2BR for early December. I would expect a minimum of 2 months of walk. Minimum.

Congratulations! I have owned AKV for several years and have not yet been able to book a value villa. They go right at 11 months out & as mentioned people often walk those reservations starting before the 11 month window opens.
The first week of December is very very popular and a high demand time for DVC villas, trying to get a villa this late anywhere, let alone a rare villa like an AKV value.
This is a helpful thread showing the trends in booking https://www.disboards.com/threads/p...-bd-charts-september-2019-2-bd-added.3689931/

Walking is when you book a room earlier than you want, and keep changing it until you get those days.

The only key is that in order to walk at 11 months online you can not be walking over a UY as a call Ms to do that and the extra hour can interrupt your walk.

So those that want early December who have UYs not later than Sept, might start with booking their nights starting then, and then moving it for. 3 months,

So, if toy want those value rooms, and don’t have a fall UY, I would probably be ready to try at 8 am now. However, you do need to have enough points to walk it over weekend, If you have to borrow points to walk, then those points will stay borrowed.

If thst is the case, book fewer nights, and modify it more often.

I forgot to say that I was looking for Dec 2020. I figured I’d probably have to walk it, so I started looking a month ago. Still no luck. Thanks for confirming my suspicion, that the only way to get it is by walking. We don’t have to get a 2 bed, I just thought it might be nice with our 3 small children (total 5 guests).

Anyone ever have it come through on a waitlist?
Thanks to the experts!

Unfortunately, you probably fell for one of the more DISHONEST DVC Sales Team ploys. “And look! If you get tired of staying somewhere else, then at 7 months you can book a Value Studio at Animal Kingdom Lodge, (if it is available). Just look at that! Only 9 points!”

I’m sorry it will never happen and they KNOW IT.

There was a time before walking. I’ve booked 4 nights in two value studios during December. It may be “the good old days” but I do hope that someday all these bookings of rooms not wanted can be blocked.

They did buy AKV so chances are greater than zero. But for December for a 2BR not much. Even owning.

I looked this morning (Nov 30) for a value studio for Oct 30, 2020. At 7:30am, there was no availability for Oct 30, 2020, but Oct 31 was available. That's what I don't understand...how could Oct 30 be full already, before the 8am window opens? I don't need the room because I have plenty of points for a standard, but I was just curious.

I have a 2-bd Value for July 2020 booked, no walking - I just followed behind the walkers and modified as they dropped... BUT I didn't need it for a prime (early December) time. We had one last year for the Princess race weekend. Again, booked with minimal walking (maybe a week or so prior? But it was before the online modification was possible). I shoot for the moon - or the 2-bd value, with the expectation that we'll be happy in a 1-bd at Kidani if I can't get it (family of 4 but usually have a friend along with us). I consider it our Disney Unicorn.

It just means nobody is checking out of a value studio on the 30th.

Ahhh...that makes sense. Those who are walking are booking the 29th+7 (or whatever) which is why it shows that the 30th is booked, the 31st is available, but November 1-3 is also booked.

Nov 1-3 is available. There couldn't be a day available beyond 11 months and then other days beyond that not available outside of rooms being pulled from inventory.

Oops, you're right...when I checked, I mis-read the colors and realized that I hadn't selected November 1-3 so it wasn't highlighted. I interpreted that as "unavailable" when it just meant I hadn't selected it...my bad!

Instead of walking ( or if you're unable to grab a day to start a walk) - stalk the RAT (Room Availability...) - the people who are walking often open up rooms in their wake. Thus would require you to 1- waitlist your desired rooms ( day by day, not the whole ressie) and 2- checking ALL DAY long on the days you want starting at 8am to see if anyone had dropped one of those days.... Often times (per various posts) - rooms appear on the RAT, able to be booked, even though those same rooms had been waitlisted ( all in the timing, apparently)

Good luck- someone else just posted about having 3 value rooms over Thanksgiving - they didn't get those without some serious walking.....
