We are thinking of the Princess Dinner at Akershus. We have a DS (9) and DDS (twins 6) and would like some information regarding this restaurant. Thanks.

We ate there during our recent trip over Thanksgiving. They have a salad/appetizer bar for before dinner. The bar has some different and interesting food choices. I'm talking things you wont see at other restaurants like various chilled fishes, meats, cheeses, etc.

The children's dinners are typical. The adult dinners are a bit different but a very nice change of pace from what you'll be eating the rest of your stay. I had a very good salmon dinner and my wife had some sort of pasta that she completely enjoyed.

The main thing is the girls really enjoyed meeting the princesses. Our DS (11) wasn't excatly thrilled but he's at that age where the characters weren't "cool" anyway.

Hope this helps out. We'll definitley be going back there for dinner with the princesses when we go back to WDW.

Be sure you check your ADR's and get some sort of printed confirmation. See our thread on Nightmare at Norway. The problem is that children really want this experience and the meals are sold out so that if a cm messes up (and mistakes are made occasionally) even if you check it is hard to rebook!! I have written requesting disney to give a written confirmation!

One thing I did forget to mention. We checked in for our ADR about 1/2 hour early and didn't get seated until almost 45 minutes after the ADR time. So that was a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes after checking in before we were sat. This was the Friday after Thanksgiving so it was pretty crowded but keep this in mind when you make your ADR. This must be pretty regular for Akershus because we never experienced this anywhere else in WDW when we had ADR's.

Another reason i liked the first breakfast seating....although it took a while to get to us since we only checked in 10 min before restraunt opened (and we were almost the last ones to check in) we weren't waiting for other guests to finnish or a schedule increasingly delayed through the day. I tried to do all my adr's for the first seating of the meal time.

We ate there at 3:30 for lunch in mid-December. There was literally no one there. I don't think even half the restaurant was full and it had pretty much cleared out by the time we left. The girls, 4 1/2 and 9 saw Ariel, Aurora, Cinderella, and Belle. Our waitress was fantastic. The food was outstanding. We checked in early and were seated early. We completly enjoyed this restaurant and I hope we can go back soon!

We didn't eat here for dinner, but for the Princess Breakfast instead. We had the first seating, along with many others, but were seated w/in 15 min of the restaurant opening. Server was very nice and attentive, and the food was really good! Just wish my girls were better breakfast eaters!
