I keep hearing food is bad...I have a lunch scheduled am thinking to switch to CRT...Having done the Royal Table before I wanted to try something different...Is lunch bad and probably more importantly is the character experience better or worse or same than CRT? thanks for your help...

We've done the Akershus and love their food. Can't say about CRT but lately people have been hating it. You just can't win. I keep second guessing myself for that same reason.

We've done both, numerous times. I'd say the character interaction is FAR better at Akershus. We enjoy the food at both - have had good luck on that at both places. If you are wanting to try something different from CRT - then I'd say go for it!!

DH is S.U.P.E.R. picky and loved Akershus. He got the Kjottkake and loved it. I did the chicken sandwich (modified due to a food allergy) and it was my favorite meal of the trip. The girls were great and our server was really nice. No complaints from us.

I don't hold it against them, but the ONLY rude encounter I've ever had with a Disney Character happened at Akershus.

When Mulan was visiting our table, my 8-year-old goddaughter excitedly told her that she could count to 10 in Japanese. Before I could correct her that Mulan was Chinese, "Mulan" snapped out - loud enough to draw the attention of the neighboring tables - "I'm Chinese" and walked away! (And, BTW, the girl playing Mulan didn't look remotely Asian, so I doubt it was a culturally sensitive nerve.) That could've been handled more tactfully. I guess she was having a bad day. :headache:

If you're worried about the food, I'd switch to Akershus breakfast. I wouldn't switch to CRT unless you really want to eat in the castle. I have heard awful things about the food at CRT (but we're going there anyway for the experience). We've done Akershus breakfast before and it was very good.

We have not done the lunch at Akershus, but we have done dinner at both it and CRT and in my family's universal opinion, Akershus was a far superior experience. The food was far better at Akershuus and the options were more creative, the character experience was less rushed and the princesses were very sweet with both DD5 and DS2, and the service was comparable, if not slightly better at Akershus. Please note that, in our opinion, CRT was not bad, it is just that Akershus was a far more enjoyable experience for our family.

For our upcoming trip, we offered DD5 a choice of dining at one or both of them again, so she did not have to pick, and she chose to go back to Akershus and chose not to go back to CRT. Considering that she is as princess-crazed as they come, that's quite an endorsement of Akershus.

My family has done Akershus lunch on the last three trips. The food has always been good even for the picky eaters in our family. The character interaction was wonderful as well. We have not had any bad experiences here.

We also did CRT on our trip this May. It was our first time. The food was fine, but the character interaction felt rushed compared to Akershus. Now, keep in mind we do not go to WDW during peak. Character interaction may change depending on how busy the restaurant is.

My opinion, Akershus is one of the better places for princess interaction. We are trying the breakfast on our trip in Feb.

We just came back from Disney and ate dinner at both CRT & Akershus. The meals at both were bad. The character interaction at Akershus was really bad. They were very rushed, in fact we had to call one Princess back to the table so both families could take pictures with her. Our waitress was not friendly at all and acted like we were bothering her when we asked for drink refills. At CRT, we had the best character interaction of the trip and the service was excellent. We may have just hit one on a good night and one on a bad night but that was our experience.

I really liked the food at Akershus and I'm super picky. I had a really excellent pork chop, and I loved the cold buffet.
