Is this a buffet? Also, the reveiws stated that the children's selection wasn't very good. Any information would be appreciated. We want to take my neice to see the princesses.
Thanks

Nope, not a buffet. You can get "all you care for" from the cold bar. Honestly, it is ok, but how much mayonnaisey salads can you eat?:confused3 We did love the smoked salmon, tomato pickled herring and shrimp salad... but pickings are slim. You can only order one entree ( you could order as many as you wanted to a few years back) and the portions are rather small, imo.

The kids menu sucks. This is the word from my 5 year old. He ordered pizza and it was ALL thick, nasty crust with a little sauce and cheese. We were so disappointed.:sad2:

Take my review with a grain of salt b/c we were huge fans of the old Akershus....it was very traumatic to go back to this "new and reformed" Akershush.:sad2:

OHHHHHH, and the princesses kissed my 5 year old son on the cheek with lipstick....I'm sure some kids like this, but he didn't. It wasn't a big deal, but he said he never wanted to go back and get yucky lipstick on him (I know that will all change ;) )

I don't know about breakfast. Lunch and dinner have a cold meat/salad buffet and then you order off a menu.

We enjoyed breakfast at Akershus! It was all-you-can-eat - fruit, cheese and patries on a buffet and then they brought a plate of eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes (yum!) to your table family-style. They would bring more of whatever you wanted.

It's a great way to see 5 princesses all in one place! If you are unsure about lunch or dinner - go for breakfast!

I loved Akershus! The dinner "buffet" before you eat was really more just a have-something-to-tide you over sort of thing. I went on the old dining plan where you got appetizer, entre & dessert...so it was PLENTY. It was nice to have some bread & salads and such before your food came though.

I can't speak of the children's menu, however I can say all of the little girls we saw there seemed to love the way the each princesses came around to their table and spent one on one time with them. This was the first time I ever saw little girls interacting with princesses at WDW....but they looked like someone had just handed the world to them on a silver platter!!!

IMHO.....you are going here for the atmosphere, not the food. The salad/meat bar is like a buffet because you can have all you want of it. Then you select something from the menu......read it carefully.....it is prepared as authentic Norwegian food......and you can tell.

As for childrens.......same old stuff as all the other places, the baked chicken was the best in my daughter's opinion.

Dessert......they bring out a small platter that has a rice pudding, some sort of cake, and something esle........(not very good in my opinion)for everyone at the table to share.

Like I said, you are going for the experience and atmosphere, not food at this resturaunt!;)
