I booked a princess breakfast at Akershus in Norway for my two DD's and myself for our upcoming trip. I was surprised that I had to give a credit card number to guarantee the reservation. I knew that certain meals require a CC guarantee, but I hadn't heard that Akershus was one of them. Is this something new or was I just not paying attention?

Yes, PSB is one of those restaurants. They are very popular and they do it to prevent no shows who do not cancel.

I had the same feeling when I booked ADR's last week! I booked a late lunch at Akershus and was asked for a credit card--not that it was a problem, but in my exhaustive reading, I never picked up on it!:surfweb: Of course, now dd wants to change that particular reservation to a dinner.

not new... at least not to my knowledge.. i remember having to supply a credit card when lunch first started back in early 2005. i believe it's $10 per person for noshows. California Grill also has a guarantee, I think that's a $20 per person penalty. and not quite the same, but Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique also has a penalty for $10 per person.

I didn't realize the penalties were fixed like that. I always just assumed that you would be charged the full price of the meal if you didn't show.

I think the $10 for Akershus, and $20 for CG is correct. That's what I was told when I booked them. I think the interesting thing is that I was told it's a 24 hr. cancellation on CG and 48 hrs. on Princesses.

They've been doing that ever since it went princess.

I booked a place in Vegas once that had a $50 no-show fee. Per person.

i've never heard $5 for a child at PSB, just $10 per person.

and CRT is in full. CRT used to do sort of the same thing (it actually charged $10 (?) per person at time of booking), but as of Feb 2006, it's payment in full at time of booking and total cost in case of noshow. it's also a 24 hour cancellation policy.

Yes, I'm thinking of when CRT charged your card a 'depost'; it was $10 per adult and $5 per child.

It's now $10 per person regardless of age at PSB & Fantasmic.

However, I'm not 100% sure that they charge the full amount at CRT for those on the dining plan if they don't show up and don't cancel. Wow, that's sure is a hefty fee!

However, all three of these are 48 hours.

The only restaurant that is 24 hours is V&A.

sure they do. i'm not on the DDP and I was charged in full of time of booking. if i didn't show, you think they'd refund most of it back? if it wasn't like that, they'd do it just like they do PSB and CG

and i know I was told 24 hours for CRT when i booked dinner.

I don't think you get what I'm saying. I realized you pay up front in full if NOT on the DDP and I realize you wouldn't get any of it back if you don't show up and don't cancel.

What I'm curious about is for those who ARE on the dining plan; do they get charged in full if they don't show up or is there a fee? That was my question. I highly doubt anyone would allow themselves to find out (and would cancel well before) but I was just curious. They'd probably charge their CC the full amount, I just wasn't sure, that's all.

And I was told 48 hours for all restaurants except V&A which is 24 hours. As usual, it depends on the CM you speak to.

The PS Calculator also has CRT at 48 hours but who knows.

I booked CRT too and was told 24-hour cancellation for that one, and 48-hour cancellation for Akershus. I'm on the DDP, and don't plan on finding out how much they charge for a no-show!

if you're on the DDP, you're not supposed to be charged for CRT at booking (although some have reported being charged regardless), but you need to leave a credit card on file. for no shows, you'll be charged in full. remember CRT is 2 TS credits, so being charged in full is still less than 2 days of credits.

When we booked HDDR on the dining plan they asked for a card to guarantee the adr. They told me the card would not be charged unless we were a no show. I even clarified it with them. Imagine my surprise when I had a $200 charge the next month. I called them and they promptly creditted my account but they couldn't figure out why I was charged.
