to the all princess meals?
Or will you stay away because of the princesses?
It would have been fun if they at least had princesses a few meals, and maybe at dinner have a boy's theme meal, or all Disney male line up.

I wish they would have kept it the way it was. Disney could have at least kept one regular meal w/o princesses. It was my favorite World Showcase restaurant and I'm sad that I can no longer enjoy it. Akershus was a great place for a nice and quiet and tasty dinner. :guilty:

We loved the Norwegian food and the quietness of the restraunt and the interaction with the authentic cm as we have been to Norway before. I even asked the cm Elisabeth about a graduation custom last year that my ds did some research on. Sadly, Disney again has caved into the almight buck to boost their profit margin. At least they could have left 1 meal princess free, but $$ is their bottom line. We are undecided, but once my dh sees the new menu and lots of little princesses, we will know our AUTHENTIC dining experience has been RUINED BY DISNEY. Sigh, sigh.

New menu??? What is it?

We have a PS for June. I thought it was the same menu with characters.

Nope the cold buffet has gone :sad2: All food is now ordered and served to your table. Why they change such an original restaurant I will never know :confused3 But needless to say we are very unlikely to go the way it is now! It used to be our favorite as well :(

This is our first trip to WDW, and we had scheduled a PS at Akershus because we had been intrigued by the food (DH especially liked the sound of the cold buffet) and the atmosphere. It seemed like a much-needed break. When we heard of the change to a princess theme, and the menu change, we decided to cancel our PS. Even though our DD (3) would likely be entertained, we already have a character meal planned and that's enough for us! :) But I suspect there are lots of people out there who will be attracted to the restaurant who might otherwise have been deterred, and this may be what Disney is counting on.

My DH was an exchange student in Finland, and the Akershus menu has always brought back very fond memories for him. I have enjoyed going there, but considered it a long way from my favorite place. I also loved that it was one of our cheapest sit-down meals. I don't mind the princesses, but I do mind the price increase, so I'm not sure we'll be going back.

I will be VERY surprised if this place doesn't have a mostly American menu soon.

I agree that they should have at least left dinner "princess-free". We enjoyed Akershus in '00 with my neices who were 5, 8 and 10 -without the princesses. Now that we are going again, my neices have insisted we go back. They could care less about the princesses. I am a little disappointed with the menu changes -especially the kids menu. I DO like the end of the buffet though. It sounds like the cold platter they bring to the table has most of the same food anyway. I tend to have an adversion to cold buffets/salad bars because I used to work at a restaurant with one. They are soooo GROSS! The people who came in for an early lunch thought they were getting "fresher" food, when what they were really getting was the flipped over crocks of food left from the night before -eewwwwww. I like my food to be exposed to as few people as possible b4 I get it!

I plan to work my way around the kids menu. The dinner is "all you can eat" as I understand it -meaning you can order an entree and then order another. I'm ordering the silly kid food for DD and letting her try the adult's food too.

We'll be going in June. We have PS for dinner. This was on DH & my list of places to try before they went princess. Now that the Princess will be there our two DD will be more excited about it. I saw the menu earlier today and it looks interesting.

I agree Claire. We love fish and salads. The very thought of the format changing and being surrounded by princesses is too much for us all. I am very sad at what has been done to my favorite Disney restaurant.None of us will be going back.

I hate to hear the cold buffet is gone. At least we got to eat there before it changed. I doubt we will eat there again as long as Rice Cream is available in the bakery across from it.

No we will not be going....not because of te princesses. We love those, but because of the menu. My family is not big on fish....And it seems they have alot of that.

I understand it is a Norwegian restaurant, therefore there needs to be some of the country's specialties on the menu. But why that specific restaurant for a princess meal???? I know some fairy tales come from a land far far away but still, why couldn't they have done it at the US pavillion and offer an amercian menu, or at the living seas.....I understand the people who love trying the country's specialties and aren't too crazy about the princesses. One less restaurant for them to try. Too bad.

My family will be going. I have 2 DD 2and 5 and we like seafood. My husband and I visited Norway, before kids, and enjoy Norwegian type foods. As for the price, we have the MYW + dinijng , so it won't matter about the price. We're looking forward to meeting the princesses and enjoying some Norwegian style food. We are sad that they don't have the buffet anymore, but I think the photo ops will be priceless.

Akershus was such a great restaurant and I'm really craving the fettucine with sun dried tomato pesto that I had there in December. :goodvibes I'm not at all interested in being surrounded by Princesses and I'm really disappointed that they're not offering some of my favorite cold items. :guilty Why do all of the meals have to be princess meals? :confused3 Why can't they have dinner be a regular meal, I would really love that and so would my family.

We have PS for lunch in June. We have never been there before as anything but counter service is really beyond our budget, but we decided to do a princess meal as a special treat to DS (he is in love with the princesses, and wants to marry Cinderella - I hope we are there during one of the rare times she appears). I think the menu looks good, and I do not even like seafood. It is not the typical things we usually eat and I am looking forward to trying things. As far as the kids menu, DS is in that picky preschooler stage and will be more than happy with it, though paying that much for PB&J is about giving me an anxiety attack. I know however the experience for him will be more than worth it.
